Nickel allergy earrings

I wonder if anyone has a trusted website for nickel free earrings. I just want a simple pair of studs but I'm worried that the "titanium" earrings I'm looking at on eBay and Amazon are probably just coated silver or some other hybrid. I now react within ten minutes to alloy metals

I'm seeking a genuine recommendation of where to shop please

I buy silver or silver plate or surgical stainless steel ones from all sorts of places. There are EU regulations which control the nickel content of anything which is designed for prolonged skin contact, since this came into force I've never had any problems with earrings, before that I could only wear silver and gold. I just check that the seller is EU or UK based.

My most recent purchases have been from Silver Rain on Etsy

I only buy sterling silver earrings for this reason. Have to admit I am wary of trusting sellers on amazon/ebay though. I tend to only buy in person or from online shops belonging to big name brands - not resellers or anything.

Yes, when I say all sorts of places I mean actual shops mostly, rather than online, but I do check the EU/UK thing for any that are online. Can you wear silver?

CaviarAndCigarettes · 05/06/2021 07:25

I've never been able to wear silver previously, I have a silver bracelet that I tried to wear the other week and it caused an irritation after a few hours. The only jewellery I wear are my platinum wedding and engagement rings.

All Thomas Sabo jewellery is nickel free

Next, M&S and Monsoon are all fine.

I've got titanium earrings from Etsy previously. It seems to be the only thing I can tolerate these days.

I've bought studs from here before, no issues.

Is it definitely sterling silver rather than silver plate? Jewellery described just as 'silver' is sometimes silver plate which has the nickel problem. I have to remember to double check!

Is it old silver? I have some old bits that pre-date the EU nickel directive and they aren't sterling silver but look identical, I can't wear them. Silver hallmarked 925 is fine for me, as are modern plated items.
