Can anyone recommend anything? He likes things like Alex rider and Percy Jackson. I feel like it’s a funny age, well out of kids programmes but not yet old enough for teen stuff!

We have sky/Amazon/Netflix/Disney+

We did The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.

My son liked Brooklyn 99 at that age but you might want to check you are happy him watching it. He also used to like Dads Army for the slapstick element but again you might want to check cos some of the comedy was of its time which is a polite way of saying a bit racist. Again he like Fawley Towers for the slapstick but that does have some similar issues to Dads Army.

My 9yo DS loved A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix. A Secret Life of Boys on CBBC.

If he's in to animals:

Deadly 60 (CBBC)
Pets Factor

KindergartenKop · 04/06/2021 22:07

On Netflix a film called Enola Holmes! It's a 12 but tbh my 9yo was fine with it.

In general, he loves Sherlock Holmes stories. Try them!

I find some episodes of Friends great for this age. As long as you avoid the ones that joke too much about sex - the episodes with Ross's teeth/suntan etc (slapstick humour) really go down a treat.

Oldandcold · 04/06/2021 22:23

Dr who. My ds is obsessed.
Big hero 6 cartoon series on Disney plus
Jurassic Park cartoon series on amazon I think or maybe Netflix

Oldandcold · 04/06/2021 22:25

Little Lunch, on Netflix?

Round The Twist from the 90's. Family that move into a haunted lighthouse... Loads of funny things happen, my DDs loved it as much as I did x

Figgygal · 04/06/2021 22:32

My 9 year old boy likes horrible histories, deadly 60, troll hunters, Pokemon, Jurassic world camp Cretaceous and the fast and furious animated series on Netflix

CheshireSplat · 04/06/2021 22:34

DD who is 9 watched Leter for the King (Netflix) ne His dark Materals (iplayer so may have dropped off) with DH and I. We all really enjoyed them.

On her own she loves Blue Peter, really loves it.

Bebeschitt · 04/06/2021 22:38

My 9 year old loves Camp Cretaceous on Netflix and since the new episodes were released has been a happy boy!
I'm sure you've already watched it but The Mandalorian is ace. We watched it together and I haven't watched a single Star Wars film.
He loves the Bear Grylls You v's Wild and has made us all "do" them (Netflix)
@Blurpblorp Round The Twist! Now I've got the song as an ear worm for the next week!

Xiaoxiong · 04/06/2021 22:38

Gravity Falls
The Simpsons
New adventures of Lois & Clark
Some episodes of Star Trek TNG
Deadly 60
The pets factor
The one with bear grylls where you can choose which path he goes, I think on netflix
Detective Pokemon
The Mitchells vs the machines
The worst witch

We really enjoyed Ghosts on BBC, it's very funny for adults and kids. There are two seasons already and apparently another finished filming.
