What do your 15 year old boys wear?

Quietskylark · 04/06/2021 11:59

My son has never been interested in clothes so I have always bought plain t shirts, hoodies and basic jogging bottoms. He isn’t sporty at all. He needs some new clothes and has asked for something a bit more like what other boys wear. Any suggestions?

Cargo pants or jeans, plain t shirts, long sleeved shirts worn open over the top.

Boots or trainers.

No brands. Usually Tesco, Primark, or Amazon stuff.

Can he not just order/buy what he wants himself?

Hoppinggreen · 04/06/2021 12:06

Trackies, Addidas, Nike or similar
Anime tshirts
Air Force one trainers

He also likes Uniqlo for basics

Aebj · 04/06/2021 12:06

Shorts, t shirts and hoodies . Happy to have non logo stuff . Even in winter they were shorts😂

Black Nike trousers, plain t-shirts, Nike trainers

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 04/06/2021 12:08

I'd find out what his friend wear.
he doesn't have to be sporty to wear tracksuit trousers, t-shirts & hoodies if he likes the look & how comfy they are.

otherwise I suggest jeans or 3/4 length canvas trousers, chinos are nice too with a short sleeve shirt.
my DS2 (17) & DS4 (16) is the trekkie & hoody style. DS3 (16) is jeans and t-shirts.

have a good browse on Next website. they have nice stuff in different styles, see what he likes

cloudymaydays · 04/06/2021 12:09

@cloudymaydays

Black Nike trousers, plain t-shirts, Nike trainers
He's not remotely sporty! Oh and black hoodies, usually Nike
NotMeNoNo · 04/06/2021 12:09

Just non-branded jeans, T shirts and hoodies.
A few sports logo items but not actual sportswear.

Most successful was DH taking him to TKMaxx to look in the men'swear small sizes for T shirts, a coat etc.
But honestly mine would wear the same outfit every day given a chance.

kowari · 04/06/2021 12:10

Plain tshirts, hoodies, jeans or cargo shorts, doesn't like obvious branding or care which brand.

TickleMyPickle · 04/06/2021 12:11

My teen boys like plain T-shirt’s/hoodies/trackies from Boohoo man.
www.boohooman.com/mens/hoodies-sweatshirts/hoodies?prefn1=sizeRefinement&prefv1=XS

Only sports brand they will wear is by Nike, same with trainers, Air Force ones are the popular choice.

NotMeNoNo · 04/06/2021 12:16

If he has trouble describing it you might have to go into a few shops until you find the right one. I remember taking my son round, a surf/skate type shop, Adidas shop, Urban outfitters etc so he could point out what he had in mind.

calamityjam · 04/06/2021 12:19

Mostly addidas or Nike, but he will wear a few bits from boohoo men such as trackies and t shirts

Kottbullar · 04/06/2021 12:20

Mine is 17
T-shirts from Everpress or old nineties stuff from depop or vinted.
Shirts
Jeans
Converse, Gazelles and DMs

He won't wear hoodies or jumpers but he's adopted one of my favourite cardigans Hmm

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 04/06/2021 12:26

Walking trousers. Plain or striped t-shirts
Plain dark hoodies. Whatever trainers he has. He isn’t fussed about type just that they’re comfy as he has amazingly high insteps.

BiBabbles · 04/06/2021 12:29

My DS1 is similar - but so am I when it comes to fashion, so when he's asked for clothes I've had to ask him to show me examples.

For the last couple of years, my DS1 has preferred to wear t-shirts or short sleeve polos usually with an overshirt (either a hoodie or a button-up shirt he wears open) plus either black joggers or grey slim fit stretch trousers I got from M&S's Big & Tall section to deal with the little waist, long legs issue - I got him I think 4 pairs of those so he can just rotate through them since it's so hard to find trousers for him.

CMOTDibbler · 04/06/2021 12:39

He'd need to tell you what his friends wear that he likes tbh. My 15 year old doesn't really care about what anyone else likes, and in the winter wears Razorstorm (small brand, viking type logos) hoodies and Next mens slim joggers (small, tall). In the summer, Razorstorm t shirts or ones from RedBubble where the humour suits him and double layer shorts as he prefers the comfort of the running style shorts. He will never wear jeans, sometimes wears running tights casually. Not bothered about the label on his trainers just that they fit (has difficult feet), wears combat boots for gigs/festivals

TheNeverEndingOver · 04/06/2021 12:39

Hi Op,

How about looking at a site like asos - I'd look in the t-shirts section so you can a good view of the models, and he can let you know what 'looks' he's after?

www.asos.com/men/t-shirts-vests/cat/?cid=7616&nlid=mw|clothing|shop+by+product|t-shirts+%26+vests

Worriesome · 04/06/2021 12:40

Take him along with you and let him pick the styles x

PASStheCAKEandCHOC · 04/06/2021 13:24

Nike Adidas tracksuits.
Air force 1 trainers black for school. White for out of school.
Shorts again Nike etc. But will wear puma round the house.
He also likes lots of the boo hoo stuff which is cheap but I find it doesn't last and bobbles.

Altho he wears the branded stuff. He's a bloody scruff. And will just throw anything on.

Quietskylark · 04/06/2021 13:28

Brill thank you, lots of suggestions! I can’t get him to come with me, which is annoying, I will get him to sit down with me and we will go through some of these websites.

DS's favourite tshirts are Hollister, with the small logo, no writing on the front, he likes the colours and the quality. He has River Island straight jeans as they have teen boy waist sizes. Hollister do some nice button up shirts too, he has a couple of them.

finished31 · 04/06/2021 20:24

My DS isn't into brands either. He has some Under Armour shorts/t-shirts that I have bought and he likes them because they are cooler and he's quiet sweaty.

Nike trainers. New Look men always good for jersey shorts/joggers and plain t-shirts.

My nephew on the other hand would only wear expensive brands.

Clarinet53 · 04/06/2021 20:24

My son wears black jeans from various places. Cargo trousers now its warmer.

Then various t shirts ( band, Fred Perry or pretty green)

Adidas, pretty green or Fred Perry jacket with Adidas gazelle trainers

Theforest · 04/06/2021 20:27

Shorts. Hates jeans.

DiaryofWimpyMumm · 04/06/2021 20:31

Joggers (when I can find decent lengthen ones) t shirts, hoodies. He's 17

ImaHogg · 04/06/2021 20:35

My 15 year old ds wears black Nike or Adidas joggers and sweatshirts. In the summer plain t shirts and jersey shorts. I did get him some black skinny jeans and smart polo shirts in various colours but he never wears them and has out grown them so back to the joggers/t shirt combo, seems that is what most of his mates wear. He always looks scruffy and I would love to see him dress smarter as I used to dress him in some cool stuff when he was younger, I have obviously put him off for life.
