Berkhamsted

Hello all,

I have been reading previous posts on Berko but would really like to know your opinion on what parts of town you consider unsafe or undesirable to live? We (mom, dad, baby boy) are looking at properties within 1 mile radius of train station. Apart from houses being scarce to come by (!) would you consider all of this area generally safe and ideal? Thank you in advance

It's a great town but heavily in demand - nowhere is unsafe but the most sought after areas are:

• the roads near the castle;
• the roads off Gravel Path;
• Kings Rd and roads off it;
• the conservation area;
• Hall Park;
• Shootersway and roads off it.

Some cheaper family housing (ignoring the nice but tiny terraces in town centre) is off Swing Gate Lane, Bridgewater Rd and the newer housing estates behind Bridgewater School.

Nowhere is particularly unsafe there, it's a small town.

Really can't imagine anywhere in Berkhamsted is unsafe!
