Got summer work trousers out of the loft. They’re not as bright as they should be.

Any tips?

Line dry in the sun

If they are pure white with no colour try napisan and oxywhite

^^ Yes and leave them out in the sun for a few days

It depends on the fabric.

If they are all cotton, try adding a weak bleach solution, to the wash.

If they are polyester or a poly cotton mix, try using Dygon.

Don't ever use household bleach or they'll turn the trousers yellow-white - I learned this from an AMA here from someone who works in the industry. The bleach used in products like Vanish is fine but sticking a capful of Domestos in your machine will have the opposite effect from what you want.

I think the same AMA said to always use washing powder and not tabs or liquid on whites.
