Can I return a gift without a receipt?

Friend has given me clothes from Joules as a gift. They just aren't for me but I don't want to say to her.

Can I return the clothes to a Joules store for a gift receipt or refund without proof of purchase?

Or online?

I think if you return without a receipt, you get store credit for the value of the item at the time of the return, regardless of what was paid for it. If your friend paid £30, for example, and it's in the sale at £15, you get the £15.

No you won’t get a cash refund and some places won’t give you an exchange either without a receipt but I don’t know that’s stores policy, it should say on the website

Joules' website suggests that they require proof of purchase for refunds or exchanges; as they have various stockists and only accept returns of things purchased directly from them.

You definitely won't get a cash refund without a receipt. You may get vouchers or store credit to the current value if the item.
