Cambridge to London train - do I need to book a seat?

Have to travel from Cambridge to London (Liverpool St) unexpectedly tomorrow, probably mid to late morning.

Haven’t been on a train since before the pandemic, and just wondering if anything is different. Will I need to book due to reduced numbers able to get on? Or do people just crowd on anyway? Etc

There will be three of us, one of whom could ideally do with a seat if possible.

You shouldnt have a problem, may be a bit busier because half term

Mid morning you should be ok. I went from Cambridge north to London a few weeks ago and it was pretty empty.
