I feel terrible now

Just bumped into someone I hadn't seen for 15 years and he said "you've doubled in size since I last saw you." Now I know that it's true but I feel so awful now 😔

What a horrible thing for them to say. Flowers

Instead of feeling terrible, can you turn it into motivation to make some positive changes?

WorriedMillie · 03/06/2021 16:58

“And you’ve become double the twat you once were”
I’m sorry, OP, some people are utter dick heads Flowers

DeepThinkingGirl · 03/06/2021 16:59

Shocking rudeness

UnicornPug · 03/06/2021 17:01

You aren’t the one who should feel terrible. He should, for being a rude, insensitive, dickhead.

CaraherEIL · 03/06/2021 17:01

OMG, that was a blast from the past you could have done without!
What a nightmare, who would even say something like that?
I would focus on the fact that in 15 years he has managed to develop no social skills at all.

thelegohooverer · 03/06/2021 17:02

May you not have the misfortune to meet them for another 15 years at least.

DeepThinkingGirl · 03/06/2021 17:02

Someone did this to me after giving birth op.

Upon greeting her one year after I last saw her she gestured with her hands and inflated her cheeks and said “well you don’t look like a model anymore so you”.

My immediate impression was to think that she must’ve really felt threatened by my good weight before and now she enjoys the fact I’m not all that.. and wants some advantage.

Some people are incredibly petty at being one uppers. They are competing with their shadow

MarshaBradyo · 03/06/2021 17:03

So rude

What an idiot

BooRadleyIsFree · 03/06/2021 17:08

Thanks for your messages. It obviously hurt my feelings and was so shocked that he'd said it. As always I thought of good come backs about 10 minutes afterwards!

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 03/06/2021 17:09

That sort of person never takes any notice of witty comebacks. Flowers

Exactly

Pointless wasting energy on them

corahallett · 03/06/2021 17:20

If it makes you feel any better I bumped into an ex about a year after we split, he looked at me and said "jesus you've put on weight, you look now like I imagined you'd look after you'd popped out 3 kids". I just laughed at him...the reason I'd been so thin when I was going out with him was because I was so fucking miserable!

People who make those kinds of comments simply aren't worth a response.

Moonshine11 · 03/06/2021 17:22

What a prick

Funnyface1 · 03/06/2021 17:22

What an awful, unnecessary thing to say. Don't let it upset you, it's completely irrelevant to who you are and all the things you've been doing for the last 15 years.

KateTheEighth · 03/06/2021 18:30

What a cunt

Hope you are ok Thanks

MiddleClassMother · 03/06/2021 18:35

That's horrible to say! Don't feel down OP

Bookridden · 03/06/2021 20:06

That is a really unkind and tactless thing to say. It's easy to say "don't be hurt", but that comment says everything about him. And it's far, far worse to be unkind like that than to be overweight.

TheChosenTwo · 03/06/2021 20:15

You're not the one who should be feeling terrible, what a prick he is.
Ps, I’d rather be overweight than a dick (I am overweight Grin ).

They werent worth the witty comeback!
