Is this a real ebay thing?

I received an email 'from eBay' and ignored it thinking it was a scam. I received the below email today. Has anyone else had it? Is it real? I do use eBay a lot.

Alexandra, you can no longer create or edit listings on eBay
You have missed the deadline to update your account details and your ability to create, relist, and revise listings has been disabled.

To re-enable your listing capabilities, you must update your account details.

If you don’t update your account details, from 18th June we will start removing all your live listings as well, and you may no longer be eligible to receive future selling fee promotions. In order to continue selling on eBay and to reinstate your listing abilities, please update your account details today.

Don't click on any link but go and log on to your eBay account. There will be a message in there if it's genuine.

BlueDucky · 03/06/2021 15:35

They are in the process of moving people away from PayPal so a good time for scammers to take advantage

Hopdathelf · 03/06/2021 15:35

I’ve had similar. They are splitting with PayPal and will, quite controversially, pay into and deduct from your bank account directly.

It's a scam, don't worry.

See if you can see the real email address - it'll be full of random numbers and letters.

Sandra15 · 03/06/2021 15:36

The same message is in my eBay inbox. So I guess it is safe to update my details

As long as you have logged on to ebay independently and not clicked any links to get there it's fine

TinkleTongs · 03/06/2021 15:39

eBay are going through payment system now and no longer allow sellers to use PayPal.

If you don’t update to their managed payment system you won’t be able to sell.

Yes I have, logged into eBay and filled it in.

What's happening with the PayPal business ? How will that affect payment ?

Good luck everyone with this one our charity is in the process of changing to these new managed payments and its a night mare the deatails they want are unbelivable and due to a glitch in ebays system we need to update some more information whaich ebays system wont change and they have kept hold of two weeks money so far this week and last, are threatening us if we dont update this info we cant list, but its their system causing the problem not us

MiddleClassMother · 03/06/2021 16:17

Yes that's real, check the email address, then check your ebay inbox and it will be there. I've had the same email, it's due to them moving away from PayPal.

Vargas · 03/06/2021 16:18

I've had the same, seems genuine to me.

WeAreTheHeroes · 03/06/2021 16:26

@Hawkins001 - eBay sold PayPal a while ago so there's no tie in now. I'm guessing they couldn't or wouldn't agree commercial terms that suited them both hence eBay dropping them.

TooMuchTooLittleTooLate · 03/06/2021 16:33

I don't think it is a scam, I've had the same message from eBay and provided details and have been paid from eBay directly into
Bank account rather than through PayPal

It's been really easy for me, just filled in bank details and as long as they match name/address etc then all
Is okay. My funds were in within 1 day
