Redoing a bathroom and love the look of black taps and accessories, but are they a pain to deal with ?

Do they get watermarks and limescale?

We have a black sink in a hard water area and I hate it with a passion. It’s looked terrible from about two months in.

We have a black sink also in bed water area and it’s slightly higher maintenance than chrome I’d say as I’m always wiping the excess water from around the edges and I spray with vinegar every week but it does still look fine with no limescale.

I have matte black taps, shower, accessories in a hard water area and actually they're fine. I just wash them once a week. You can't use bleach on them, I just use a micriofibre cloth with a little dishwashing liquid and water and they've come up fine

Do not do it. We lived with a black bathroom for 10 years which was renovated to our predecessors taste. It just constantly looks cloudy and patchy white. Especially in those areas where water sits and collects. When we had sales viewings I would clean it and spray with marble polish to make it look its best. Most of the time it looked like shit and I loathed it. Just don't.

I have matte black accessories and fittings and love them! In a soft water area though. Not a bother to keep clean

Thank you !

We live in a hard water area, we do have a water softener installed.

I love the look, it looks so crisp and classy. Think I may go ahead with it.

Any particular brand of taps I should consider ?

It would be something like this, white sink and bath, only the taps etc would be black.

We live in a hard water area and toyed with the idea of some very dark grey, matt mosaic tiles on the floor of the shower.

We got a sample of the tiles and left them in the shower for a week or so and treated them as if they were fitted IYSWIM.

Anyway, soon realised they'd be a PITA as they marked so easily and there was no way they would be dried after every use.

Personally I would avoid.
