Dd and I are home alone this evening. What classic girly movie shall we watch 😁?

Not ‘girly’ films as such but our family (both boys and girls) love Sing Street and The Hunt for the Wilder People

AuntLucy · 02/06/2021 17:15

So the shortlist is Pretty Woman, Titanic, Miss congeniality (which I had totally forgotten) and Legally Blonde. All excellent movies. I have steak-and-duchesse potatoes for dinner for us, chocolate melty pudding, and popcorn for later. We may bring our duvets downstairs. Happy days ❤️

(Thank you for the other super recommendations - they are not on the shortlist ad most of them we have already seen)

She's the man. Absolute classic 🤣

AGirlCalledJohnny · 02/06/2021 17:18

My DD had seen all those movies by 12, I’m pretty lax about that kind of stuff as I tend to think the sex stuff either goes over their heads or they’ve already heard versions of it. No gory, slasher stuff, no actual sex scenes.

If you’ve Netflix “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” is completely adorable and is part of a trilogy. My DD and I have had some lovely evenings watching them.

Isn't It Romantic
Pitch Perfect
The Impossible (only if you want a good cry together. Amazing film but so emotional)
17 Again

AliMonkey · 02/06/2021 17:19

Personally I’d cross Titanic off - there’s one steamy scene that I’d feel very uncomfortable watching with a 12 year old. And actually I’d also worry about the amount of death in it but that’s probably just because one of my DC is very sensitive about stuff like that.

The Sandlot Kids, brilliant movie suitable for all ages!
Hope ye enjoy your evening!

Agree with PP recommendation of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before - DD15 and I both enjoyed girly nights watching that and the sequels recently.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 02/06/2021 17:22

don't ever bother with The devil wears Prada.
it's so shite, DS1 and I only watched it for 36 mins because we hoped it would get better. it didn't.

AsCoolAsKimDeal · 02/06/2021 17:25

The Princess Bride

IHaveBrilloHair · 02/06/2021 17:26

Strictly Ballroom is awesome. I love Baz Luhrman's films.

In fact you should watch the full Red Curtain trilogy so Romeo +Juliet ( Danes & DiCaprio) and Moulin Rouge (Kidman &McGregor) as well.
the last one is a bit stronger than Pretty Woman so maybe see it first on your own to decide.

(I don't know what you've seen or not so apologies if you have)
