We have tits in our box

After watching Springwatch last night and hearing them talk about the struggles blue tits are facing this year I was delighted today to see our blue tits starting to fledge! The parents are a constant source of food to the babies as you can see.

Lovely. We've had a family of blackbirds already fledged and gone, and there's a wren on its second brood, first lot gone as well. Some pigeons tried to take over the blackbird nest after they'd moved out, but it was in a rather small bush and they were rather fat, so they gave up in the end!

I also have tits and a box.

....oh....

Wrong end of the stick.

In all seriousness OP, thats great! Ive seen a few on my bird feeder. Where abouts are you?

Nice tits!

pointythings · 02/06/2021 14:33

I was going to say that sounds rather uncomfortable, but in all seriousness - great news!

Tits in one, bees in the other.

Thus giving us the birds and the bees in the garden.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 02/06/2021 15:20

We have too. Our robins have been and gone, and the hedge is full of sparrows. Smile

I'm so pleased the starlings abandoned their nest above my bedroom window though. Apparently they build two or three at once and then pick one. They're really noisy, and you wouldn't believe the amount of bird poo on the window.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 02/06/2021 15:55

What a smashing pair of tits OP.
I have tons of sparrows and baby starlings not sure I'm fantastically popular with the neighbours honestly, it's like a creche on our back lawn. The poor hen blackbird can't get near!
It's not stopping the horny woodpigeons though. 😳
Hoping for baby robins too as we had some last year.

How lovely.

Whingey · 02/06/2021 16:47

Aww love fledgling. Tits in your box sounds painful 😁

sashagabadon · 02/06/2021 17:05

There are blue tits nesting on the tube platform I use in a cctv pole. I think arch them each morning fly in and out. I think they’ll fledge v soon.
