Which electric sockets look nicest?

We’ve gone for light grey kitchen units and will likely have a white worktop. Trying to decide on cupboard handles and sockets but I can’t visualise at all! Thinking of some sort of chrome sockets - want something that will look nice without showing up all the kids fingerprints etc! And then maybe I should choose chrome door knobs for the kitchen cupboards to match?

Any ideas or pictures would be great!

A different colour for each appliance on the plug I would suggest, so you don't plug in the toaster instead of the kettle, for example.

White for the sockets I suggest.

I got brushed chrome....they look really nice, and don't show up fingermarks like the shiny chrome.

Make sure you shop around...I rang a few places and saved over €100 on our sockets and light switches alone

@magicstar1 thanks that sounds a good option! Do you mind sharing where you got a good price if it was recent?

Brushed stainless... no finger prints and match the trim and the curtain poles.

@XingMing thanks! Not sure what you mean about the ‘trim’?

Is there a difference in between brushed stainless and brushed chrome? Can’t get to see them in person unfortunately ....

Sorry @hannah1122, badly expressed. It matches the trim and handles in my kitchen... I can't recall where they came from, probably the local eletrical wholesalers as the electrician brought them. Some have USB chargers built in, which is very useful.

Bluntness100 · 02/06/2021 13:43

I’d also agree brushed chrome. Although they do show a bit of dirt

I’d disagree on the USB ports, many items are moving to micro usb and soon enough anything with standard is going to be out dated and a ballche.

@hannah1122 I'm in Dublin, so probably wouldn't be any use to you.

If you're going for the brushed look, there's no much difference with the steel or chrome. The chrome is a little brighter, so just make sure you buy all either chrome or steel...don't mix and match.

XingMing · 02/06/2021 16:15

@Bluntness100, in which case I shall buy a new cable or two for micro USB devices!

hannah1122 · 03/06/2021 11:56

@magicstar1 thanks anyway! Will make sure they’re all the same .... just can’t figure out if that means the door knobs and taps etc should also be the same finish .... I guess so?!

We got brushed iridium from Screwfix.

I wouldn't have USB sockets because then people use them and you have to deal with cables trailing all over the kitchen, which is very annoying. Set your chargers up elsewhere but not in the kitchen.
