Just wondered what hobbies people have. Mine is reading really, but looking for something new to do. I'm on a low budget. In winter I did a lot of knitting, but I've run out of ideas at the moment and am just not fancying it right now. I've grown a few things from seed. I've tried colouring but get bored quickly. I like making things, but am not very good. Diamond pictures are too fiddly. I did jigsaws for a while during lockdown but bored of that now Grin

Sourdough bread making? You need to make a starter or buy one, it’s just flour and water, feed it daily, bit like a pet, you get to know it, then you can make all sorts of sourdough with different flours and try your hand at scoring patterns. It’s very satisfying and tasty, making wonderful creations out of flour and water only.

Cross stitch

Puzzles (crosswords, sudoku but I love logic problems best)

Silly games on phone - tetris, solitaire but also ones with a long term narrative where you build a world. Used to be castle story now FarmVille

Knitting

Occasionally dip into language apps to refresh my modern languages skills. I can get by in 5 languages to varying degrees of ability. I really ought to learn the ones I'm weaker on properly

I am a geek

Current hobbies are Pokemon Go (free, gives you a reason to get out and walk), warhammer painting and watching Grey's Anatomy :)

I've also got a crochet blanket and a cross stitch on the go. And my house and garden have many jobs to do, and I've a mountain of books I haven't yet read, so I'm also flighty. I've got 1500 hours in Destiny 2 on Xbox.

Not really a hobby - more a small lifestyle business selling antiques online.

I also do embroidery and patchwork which is very relaxing and I enjoy reading syfi.

I love reading, always have but want new things to do apart from reading, doom scrolling social media or Netflix lol

I swim outdoors in lakes and rivers. Invigorating, relaxing and sociable. Free once you have a cheap pair of swim shoes.
I do yoga and Pilates.
I love caring for my pets - dog, mice, giant snails.
I play pickleball - £2 a session.
I walk a lot as well with the dog and attend various training sessions, focused on different aims, with him.
I think I’m at peak hobby capacity at the moment! It makes me very happy!

I quite like cooking and have been cooking and perfecting a lot of vegetarian dishes. I'm also about to attend a 4 wk course on preparing raw food dishes. The raw food dishes I've eaten so far have been amazing.

Sewing/dressmaking has been my go-to hobby for about 8 years now. It's like jigsaws, but with something unique to keep at the end! It does take over bits of your home however - I seem to have a second hobby that is buying fabric. Smile

My hobby is foosball (aka table football) but it can be expensive.

Most good foosball tables cost over £1,000 (beware, many cheap foosball tables are of poor standard and may break relatively easily) - anyone reading this please feel free to ask me for advice if you want to buy a foosball table.

If you get hooked on it and enter tournaments (like I do) then the travel costs mount up. In the 12 months before covid I went to various tournaments around the UK as well as tournaments in France, Germany, Czech Republic and Spain (for the Foosball World Championships).

During lockdown I've also reverted to one of my old hobbies and I've been playing a little chess online which has no additional cost if you have the internet.
