How sexist is this article!

You could tell she had not bleached it for some time, because the roots were darker and had grown out about half an inch. Her natural hair color was a light brown, not blonde. Her legs hadn't been shaved for at least a week, and her lips were badly chapped. She was also in need of a manicure and pedicure," Allan divulged

Apparently Marilyn Monroe wasn’t looking after herself and the coroner was shocked. Because she hadn’t shaved her legs in a week and had half an inch of hair growth? And I’m not sure coroners need to be the judges of whether a dead woman needed a manicure

It possibly was quite shocking to see what was famously one of the most glamorous woman in the world at the time looking fairly normal. Plus he’s commenting or relating something for an article. He will be well aware the public aren’t after something dull as ditch water.

He’s released a book ‘revealing’ what dead celebrities looked like. Respectful.

What??? That's disgusting. Surely he must be breaking some kind of professional code?

God that’s awful. He should be ashamed.

I remember being shocked by a biography including photos of Monroe on the slab. People have no respect.

That book sounds revolting.

Those details do show that MM hadn't been keeping up her glamorous image, tho, so would have been relevant to her state of mind at the time of her death.

Nodal · 02/06/2021 09:32

Her legs hadn't been shaved for at least a week That's utterly ridiculous as well as sexist, women's legs aren't like men's beards, there's no way you could tell she hadn't shaved for a week. I shave mine about once a month at most and it takes weeks before you'd notice.

LunaNorth · 02/06/2021 09:36

If I died today, the coroner would see that I could do with a manicure and pedicure, and a facial. My legs could also do with a shave, and yes, I’m not a natural blonde.

I’m not particularly depressed. I’m normal.

Did this bloke expect MM to sashay around like Lorelei Lee 24/7?

It was 60 years ago, not last Thursday !. Pathologist are obliged to list all observations, especially if it is indicative to the state of mental health.

I've been involved in two coroners inquests , one in the US and one in the UK, and the pathologist's reports were both similar to this.
