I've tried vinegar, soap, coffee, room spray, good old fashioned squishing but every day they come back!! Please tell me theres a magic cure. I have cats and a one year old so can't try anything toxic !

I have them too and I cant get rid of them. I use Raid wherever I see them but its not a long term solution. I bought a powder but im too scared to use it because of the dog.

Are you in a new house and have just noticed them recently? Asking because we get them in ours each year around this time of year for a few weeks before they disappear into the garden again. So we just leave them alone.

We were absolutely plagued with them about a month ago. Nothing seemed to work until we got the Ant stop bait stations. Put one up on the kitchen surface where we kept seeing them. Nothing to start with then as it got dark there were loads of them going in and out ( if you see this- don't kill them!) haven't seen any since!

I have a lot of respect for ants.

We had them this and last year for a time regular surface and cupboard cleaning, floor cleaning eventually deterres them. Remove all food sources from their route. Don't give them anything to come in for. Also, removing the weeds that had grown under my kitchen door seemed to help.

@sessell

Cinemon powder deters them. I sprinkle it where their trail comes in to the kitchen and it stops them. Need to top up every few weeks.
This is what I was going to say. Cinnamon definitely deters then. It won't exterminate just stop them coming in if yousprinkle it at the points they enter.

We’re struggling with them this year too. They’re only in the living room which is honestly the most baffling thing since we never eat in here. Haven’t found any in the kitchen or dining room which would make a lot more sense. They seem to be congregating near the toy boxes so I thought maybe toddler DS had dragged some food through and left it there without me realising but I cleared all of the boxes out, vacuumed inside of the boxes and cleaned with vinegar. Nothing in any of the boxes of interest. DH thinks it’s just stickiness from hands or mouth when baby eats them. Seems a bit farfetched to invade our home because some of the toys have dried baby saliva on them... I’ve probably found and subsequently killed about 30 ants over the past couple of days, they’re driving me nuts. I either vacuum them or kill with ant stop spray. Sprinkled ant powder all around the outside of the house too and tried cinnamon.
