Missed period, negative test

Hi all,

I don’t know if anyone else will be able to give me peace of mind with their own personal experiences but thought I’d ask and see.

So I realised about 2 weeks ago that I’d missed my period. A few days before this I was feeling nauseous and had some heart burn in the evenings and was feeling very lethargic and unmotivated to do anything on my week off. This is what made me check my dates as I am someone who never really suffers with heartburn, and I am normally a very busy Motivated person. My periods are also pretty clockwork and I don’t skip them.

On top of all this my resting heart rate jumped up by about 15 beats pm in a week, I came out in a coldsore (Which rarely happpens anymore) I was burping more (again unlike me) and I had really mild crampy feelings in my tummy and I had awful wind.

I have done a couple of pregnancy tests since and all have said negative. I have googled like crazy anything else it could be and nothing else really feels like it fits. I’ve spoken to my doctor who said to wait 3 weeks to do another test and if it’s negative they’ll do some blood tests. But it feels like the longest three weeks and it’s driving me mad waiting. We weren’t actively trying but the thought that I was has got me excited and I’m now driving myself mad wondering if I’m imagining all these symptoms and getting upset with every negative test. I just want some answers but have to wait 3 weeks. So I was wondering if anyone else’s tests have taken ages to show up? I know it can happen just wondered how common it is?

Many thanks to anyone who can help keep me sane in the next three week haha 🙈😂

Hi op, I can't really help as when I was pregnant the line came up pretty much straight away. Not sure which tests you're using but it could be worth trying a different brand (like Clear Blue or something)? I know it feels like an eternity - I am super impatient too - but 3 weeks isn't long to wait and then you'll know Smile
I really hope you get the news you want

The cheaper tests work really well for early detection.

Have you had a recent Covid Jab?

Thank you for your responses. I have used cheap supermarket own ones and clear blue.

I think deep down I know it’s likely that it means I’m not and I think I’m just clinging onto any hope of the slight chance I still could be.

I wasn’t really sure I wanted another child Before this and the excitement I felt with this possible situation has taken me by shock, and now I need to get my head round that I’m not.

I had my second covid vaccine back in February and have had normal cycles since then so I don’t think it’s that?

I’m sure I didn’t find out with my daughter until I was 6-8 weeks. I know the exact date I found out with her and I remember the phone call to the doctors with them saying they need to get me in for checks quickly as I’m nearly already 8 weeks. But I don’t remember missing a period 🤔 and we were actively trying.

It’s really strange isn’t it, I wasn’t trying when I caught on but the first time I suspected something wasn’t right was because I felt insanely tired all the time. I used a supermarket test and it showed up right away then the dating scan a couple of weeks later put me at 6 weeks. I think when you know you know right? It’s not long to wait to know for sure Smile
