Have you got an Apple Watch?

And if so, would you recommend it?
I’m very lucky in that my parents have offered to buy me one for a big birthday, but I’m just worried that it’s a lot of money.
Are Apple watches worth it in your opinion?

For me, yes definitely. I do lots of exercise and I love being able to track my workouts/the distances I run etc. Having my messages come up on my watch is also useful as I can see immediately if I need to respond to anything.

Neither of these features are unique to an Apple Watch though. A higher end Fitbit will do the same things.

I held out for a long time (DH has had them since they first came out). I got an SE for Christmas so its not the top end model. I'm really pleased with it, I like being able to see messages or take calls when my phone isn't to hand, track exercise, check things like weather. Also it works brilliantly with my airpods, a couple of taps to make a call without having to get my phone out, volume control when listening to audio etc.

newnortherner111 · 01/06/2021 15:11

No, would not spend that sort of money on something that would just be a novelty for me.

DrDreReturns · 01/06/2021 15:12

I've got a Garmin. As a keen runner it does all I need it to.

itsgettingwierd · 01/06/2021 15:13

I tried to avoid one for ages but ended up buying one a few months again. I just got the series 3 as that does all need it to.

But I would recommend

Heneage · 01/06/2021 15:13

Adore mine. Can make and take phonecalss on it

Aposterhasnoname · 01/06/2021 15:17

Love mine, the best bit is the walkie talkie feature for talking to DH, but obviously you both need one for that. Also love being able to change music my phone is playing from my wrist and reading my messages.

RainbowMum11 · 01/06/2021 15:21

I absolutely love mine, really like being able to read messages and answer calls without needing my phone in my hand.
Also like it to track exercise and sleep.

needagirlsnight · 01/06/2021 15:21

I've had mine since August last year, couldn't live without it now. I thought when I got it that it might be novelty and I would get bored but it really hasn't. I feel weird if I forget to put it on Grin it's become habit and I love my messages and calls coming through my watch plus listening to music when exercising and being able to skip the track etc

Keepmeawayfromthebuffet · 01/06/2021 15:30

I didn’t see the need for one but got a series 5 for a special birthday and absolutely love it.

LadyCatStark · 01/06/2021 15:32

I do love it but mine has a problem with the battery where it does half way through a run! It’s incredibly annoying but it’ll cost a fortune to fix 🤬.

Eggshausted · 01/06/2021 15:33

I love mine. I do a lot of swimming and it tracks how many lengths I have done, and how many calories I have burned etc. Whatever you do, buy a screen protector (from Amazon for £5-10) it is a rigid case that fits over the watch. I have noticed a couple of scratches on the protector, so glad they are not on the watch face! You can buy a lovely variety of straps from eBay etc so can change the look in an instant.

42isthemeaning · 01/06/2021 15:37

I love it. That and the AirPods are my favourite gadgets.
It definitely motivated me to move more and reach my goals. It's very handy that I can answer calls and messages when I'm not beside my phone, and as a work tool it's a great for reminding me stuff. There are a number of good apps which also work on it. I'd highly recommend it. Smile

FinallyHere · 01/06/2021 16:27

I would love to have one so that I could take calls and pay for things without getting my phone out. My mobile is provided by my company and does not support Apple Watch so no point at the moment

Til I retire 😀

cariadlet · 01/06/2021 16:29

I don't because I use android but dd was given one for her 18th birthday and loves it.

EmmaStone · 01/06/2021 16:30

Yes, I'm on my second (and DD wears my first). We've all got them in my family, and they're a great nudge to keep you moving, make you a little more conscious of your activity levels. I like being able to pay for things with it (great on the Tube), see messages and calls. And I like the exercise tracking the most, I love a stat!!

UCOinSteveArnottsPants · 01/06/2021 16:31

I was adamant I didn’t want one for a very long time and dh was desperate to buy one for me. In the end I caved in and I absolutely love it. Wouldn’t be without it.

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 01/06/2021 16:33

I love mine , it's old and I've had it for years but I like that I get my messages on it and it does my steps ! I have a posh watch but hardly ever wear it because I'm worried I'll
Miss calls from teen etc

EversoDelighted · 01/06/2021 16:34

Oh yes, Apple pay on it is brilliant, even easier than using a phone.

Seesawmummadaw · 01/06/2021 16:34

I find that I’m much more motivated to exercise or simply move since having one.

MaMelon · 01/06/2021 16:36

I got one after DH went on and on about how great they were and never used it - just seemed a bit pointless. I think DD has it now - that’s terrible, I don’t actually know where it is Blush

TuckMyWin · 01/06/2021 16:40

@LadyCatStark mine does that but I’ve worked out it’s the cellular function - I run rural routes and I think it’s looking for reception. It doesn’t die if I turn off cellular. It’s a bit annoying as I only have cellular on the watch so I don’t have to take my phone when I run, but I figure if I need to make a call I can just turn cellular back on.

TheatricalGiraffe · 01/06/2021 16:41

Yes,

I have the series 6. Well worth the money as I like being able to track my workouts and my sleep!

I wouldn't go back to a fitbit now

@TuckMyWin that’s very interesting thanks! I also live in a rural area with no signal. I thought it was the cold but it was really warm today!

swampytiggaa · 01/06/2021 17:55

I love mine! I’m onto my third and I can’t imagine not having one 😊
