Idle musings

Following on from the recent thread I cant find, about random questions.

I had a very strange bit of a dream.

It was a dream. No innocent babies were harmed!

If a baby was born to parents who never walked (by choice, no medical reason). Would the baby ever learn to walk?

Obviously a completely theoretical situation!
The parents would never leave the house. No walking visitors ever come. Bo walking people on tv...

I imagine they would walk. I think it is something that is innate within us. Unlike talking which needs to be learned.

Interesting. I wonder, because realistically does a baby ever see someone crawl? And yet generally that's their first movement after rolling. Do babies see people roll? Probably even less so!

Unrelated but I remember reading a book about a man who kept his daughter in the house all the time and taught her the wrong things. So a spoon was a fork etc.

My baby has never seen me climb but it doesn't stop him Grin

I did wonder if it was "inbuilt " to us.

It's the most efficient was of getting somewhere.

I'm sure I had to demonstrate crawling to one of mine! Keep lifting his middle up...

But where does the movement thing end?

We crawl.
Then we stand to see more.
Then walk.
Then run.
What about cartwheels next? That could be faster than running?

Thedog
My dd was (still is) far better at climbing than walking!
