What times does your teen wake up?

So inspired by another thread where everyone was staying teens are expected to sleep in beyond 11 mine don't!

Mine are awake by 7 and will lay in bed and watch stuff on tablets but by 9 they are up and starving.

Have I just produced weird teenagers 🤣

One is usually up by 7.30, the other sets an alarm for 6 and reads for hours.

PASStheCAKEandCHOC · 01/06/2021 08:04

My teen is awake but not surfaced yet.
Prob absolute latest he's slept is 10 ish.
But can lay in bed most of the morning.
We have a 3 and 1 Yr old so not always quiet to sleep

ILiveInSalemsLot · 01/06/2021 08:05

About 12pm here.

NiceTwin · 01/06/2021 08:07

Wakes early, 7am, but languishes in bed until their hunger gets the better of them!

anothernewtop · 01/06/2021 08:08

One of them is autistic and I don't let him sleep past 11am. We have spent years working on getting him to sleep, so 11am is the limit!

The other one works 7:30am starts so she is always up early, even on her days off

WhatHaveIFound · 01/06/2021 08:13

One of mine was up at 7am this morning as she's off on a first aid course for work. The other is struggling with chronic fatigue so I can't even remember what normal was for him.

newnortherner111 · 01/06/2021 08:14

I was expecting someone to say 'about aged 22' when she or he comes back to the real world and all its challenges!

Paranoidandroidmarvin1350 · 01/06/2021 08:14

No idea what time he gets up as I am out at work. He has been keeping more different hours due to not having anything to do for over a year and most of his online friends seem to be in a different time zone.

Not overly worried. And not prepared to have the fight with a 17 year old about sleeping times. He will have to go back to be a normal person and sleeping normal hours when he can get an apprenticeship.

Thunderdonkey · 01/06/2021 08:26

Mine still bounces out of bed anytime from 6.30 to 8. I keep waiting for the sleeping in to start but no sign of it yet.

SpringLoadedJizz · 01/06/2021 08:33

I have two and they're opposites. One stays up really late (she woke me last night going to the bathroom at 3am Angry) and sleeps until 11 or 12 on average, we sometimes see her earlier but she's incredibly grumpy if she gets woken early.

The other is in bed at 10, asleep by 10.30-11, and is awake between 6 and 7 then out of bed about an hour later. When she has school she leaves at 8.30-8.40 so spends the mornings getting ready and then a bit of reading if she has spare time.

TheChosenTwo · 01/06/2021 08:45

Mine could lay in until the afternoon If we aren’t busy and they have had a late night.
I don’t often let them go that far though.
If I haven’t heard them by about 11 I will go and wake them up.
Often they will have plans and get themselves up but even if not they’re sometimes downstairs by 10:30, making themselves some breakfast.
It does my dd2 in particular no good sleeping in until late as she is then up really late the next night. She’s had a lot of MH problems and a good healthy sleep routine is essential for her well-being.

MrsJBaptiste · 01/06/2021 08:57

About 11am here although it can be earlier/later depending on their plans for the day.

Bbq1 · 01/06/2021 09:03

Anywhere between 9 and 11. Occasionally 12. Depends on plans for the day and the lateness/busyness of the previous day/night. Ds often awake earlier than I think but chills in bed.

OrchidLass · 01/06/2021 09:08

One is always up about 7 on the weekends the other anywhere between 8 and 10.

WeWantAMackerelNotASprat · 01/06/2021 13:17

I find it fascinating, shows how different we all are and that one size doesn't fit all. I've read about school days starting later but that wouldn't suit my teens at all.

They are both quite busy and not into gaming so don't know if that makes a difference, the teens I know who sleep late game late too

My DD never slept in past lunchtime and that was pretty rare. My DS’s can easily stay in bed until 3pm though, when they don’t have to be up for anything, after staying up all night gaming.

Mama1980 · 01/06/2021 13:25

I have a weird one too- he's always up by 7 and usually off running before then.

OhRene · 01/06/2021 13:27

Mine gets herself up at 7am on the dot every school day. She likes loads of time to get ready. Weekends can be 10am

lucysmam · 01/06/2021 13:58

Mine usually wakes around 9am ish on a day off. Quite often lazes in bed until 11:30am or so, or until I tell her it's time to shift.

Icancelledthecheque · 01/06/2021 15:50

On days off... 2 are up and downstairs by 8:30. One by 10:30. The other you’re lucky to see before 1:30.

All gamers btw, not sure it makes a huge difference though.

Hen2018 · 01/06/2021 17:40

Oldest (ADHD) - has never slept past 6.30am.

Youngest (ASD) - will sleep 14 hours in a row if not woken

RedPillowcase · 01/06/2021 17:44

One will sleep until midday quite happily while the other is up from 7am. The early riser has to get up to feed his guinea pigs (they wait for no man! They'd riot if kept waiting) so he just stays up but will only sleep 'til 10am at the latest if left to it.
