Foot disaster - no more chiropody sponges!

I've been buying Newton's chiropody sponges for years since someone on here recommended them. (Using them alongside Flexitol is what stops my heels turning into hack-covered eyesores.) But they've been out of stock everywhere for a while so I'm starting to think they're no longer in business! Sad Has anyone found a source they're willing to share or an alternative? It's sandal weather and I'm now in desperate need!

(Please don't recommend Footner: it scares me.)

I haven't been able to get any either Sad I bought this instead (hope link works). I have pressure sore scars on both heels and this has worked as well, if not better, than the Newton.

CCS foot cream is great.
At first I put it on every day before getting dressed, and it really improved my cracked heels. Now I use it maybe once a week just to maintain it.

I bought those...they are smaller than footner but don't fall apart as quickly.

I got one from semi chem

KindergartenKop · 01/06/2021 14:37

I use a corn knife/razor thing from eBay. This is what they use in the pedicure places near me to shave off the gross hard skin.

pinkcattydude · 01/06/2021 14:43

CCS is amazing stuff

Geordieoldgirl · 01/06/2021 14:51

Margaret Dabbs’ footfile is expensive but fantastic (and the different foot lotions are also very good). Her products are also stocked by QVC who have a no quibble money back guarantee.

StealthPolarBear · 01/06/2021 14:54

I was looking for these yesterday and wondering thr same thing.
The cheapo £2 foot file from tesco does a reasonably good job, but needs replacing quite quickly.
I have half a sponge left and would be willing to sell you it for a tenner, one careful lady owner :o

devuskums · 01/06/2021 15:37

@StealthPolarBear 🤣🤣🤣🤣

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 01/06/2021 18:47

@StealthPolarBear GrinGrin very kind but I'll decline thanks!

Thanks everyone. I'll look into these alternative foot grating/pumice type contraptions. CCS is the same as Flexitol for me - it helps but I really need the skin removing tool in combination with a cream to make any difference. The sponges were perfect (if a bit messy).

I read this as 'food disaster ' and wonderful why on earth you were eating chiropody sponges...🤭

EvilPea · 01/06/2021 19:00

I got a similar thing in saver, it’s blue and white (not helpful without a name I know.
Not quite as good but doesn’t break and shed black stuff everywhere

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 01/06/2021 19:00

You don't need to scrape skin off, if you apply flexitol 25% everyday for a month your heels will be baby smooth. I do it and no more cracks, fissures, dry skin.

Papillon1 · 01/06/2021 19:07

I was excited to find some in my tiny local pharmacy recently, might be worth checking?

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 01/06/2021 19:28

@Shehasadiamondinthesky Nope, tried it, didn't work.

Probably a supply chain thing - pandemic, Brexit or Suez canal traffic jam?

I have started using a foot microplane and am never going back. It looks terrifying and you have to make sure you're not overly enthusiastic, but it works better than anything else I've ever tried on my hoof-like heels.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 01/06/2021 20:08

I had the same frustration & now have these ones amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B088KQPWZM?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title]]
they work nearly as well & I think they'll last ages as they don't seem to wear down (which is far more pleasant in the bath Grin)

BeeyatchPlease · 01/06/2021 20:10

I completely agree with @noodlezoodle! I've got the Microplane Colossal Foot File and it is hands down the best thing I have ever used on my feet. I use flexitol or CCS cream afterwards and it works wonders on hard skin and cracked heels. I do love Footner as well to slay the dead skin on the softer parts of my feet that I can't get at with the file.
