Congratulations on your new baby. What advice are you looking for?

Twatterati · 31/05/2021 20:31

My baby has a cough and I’m assuming he’s had belly ache as he’s been constipated today he managed to open his bowels once today but he normally has atleast 4 a day and he’s very unsettled.
He’s not a crying baby but at the moment he can’t wake up without crying I feel so mean.

But I was asleep with him before and I got a phone call and I dropped my phone it got my baby so I feel so bad I don’t know what it is that’s upsetting him
If it’s hurting because of the phone or if it’s cause he’s not well I jjst feel awful

My advice is to call 111, NHS helpline.
None of us here are able to help determine what could be wrong.
with such a young baby I'd seek help from a medical professional

Twatterati · 31/05/2021 21:15

Yes, definitely 111 as not pooing isn't ideal. Try not to worry about dropping the phone, where about on him did it land?

otterbaby · 31/05/2021 21:19

Agree with above, and any sort of respiratory change like a cough is worth double checking just with him being so young.

User0ne · 31/05/2021 21:44

Get the cough checked if you're worried about it.

Babies can have irritable/crying days (or at least the 3 I've had seemed to have the odd off day now and again) so I wouldn't worry about that too much. Lots of cuddles and skin to skin will hopefully settle them down.

Re the constipation: of you're breastfeeding then the regularity of their poos can change. Mine went from frequent poos to pooing once a fortnight without being constipated. I think the change started around 3-4 weeks - the time between poos started getting longer gradually and by 3m it was around once a fortnight.

YouTube have some food tummy massage videos that can help of you're worried.

Hope everything is ok

bestbeforedateexpired · 31/05/2021 21:47

@UserOne Pooing once a fortnight? That’s once every two weeks. Is that what you meant?

bestbeforedateexpired · 31/05/2021 21:49

@Randomnum1 please call 111 as they will give better advice than anyone on here
