Vaccination centres on NHS booking system too far away for me! What do I do?

The vaccination centres the NHS website gives me to book at once I enter my details are all at least 45 miles from my address despite it saying ‘26.5 miles away’ on the website. I know of people who live a 20 miles away from me and they’re getting a centre only 14 miles away from me appear on their list but I don’t get that centre on my list..

What can I do? Thanks

Just keep logging in and looking. It’s updated multiple times a day x

Hellocatshome · 31/05/2021 19:21

You may not get the same centre as others if your ages are different. If you are under 40 it will only show you sites that have Pfizer or Modern. Call 119 they tend to be able to look further ahead than the website so they can see if they can find you one closer.

Asbolutely · 31/05/2021 19:21

I think maybe keep trying. They seem to change daily, sometimes even within one day you'll get different places offered. I guess it's something to do with when slots are released, and availability etc, so maybe just keep checking for a few days.

contact your GP surgery, they may have a more local option not on the main website.

I have this problem to. London was my closest. I’m in Wiltshire

Waterlemon · 31/05/2021 23:04

Try a different postcode- my DH Managed to book his near to his workplace rather than home address

Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo · 31/05/2021 23:04

We found the same with the NHS route but if we clicked on the text from the GP, we were given nearer ones.

Or try sporadically in case a closer one pops up but the closer (and for us smaller) ones had feeer slots so booked up quicker.

SkedaddIe · 31/05/2021 23:08

If the system doesn't recognise your postcode. ie you live in a new build then it defaults to national and you can tell this has happened because the loser is in alphabetical order not distance order.

Use a close by postcode instead

SkedaddIe · 31/05/2021 23:08

List not loser*

LemonTT · 31/05/2021 23:15

They are busy at the moment because they pulled forward the 2nd doses by 3 weeks. It will ease off in a few weeks time as the number of 2nd doses falls.

However it’s always worth checking. They purge the system of people who booked but have already been vaccinated elsewhere (GP practices and via walk-ins). That releases slots. As does confirmation of first dose supply which happens only a couple of weeks in advance.

Moonlaserbearwolf · 31/05/2021 23:22

The NHS website gave me far away locations too, but you should get a text soon from your GP which will invite you to your closest location.

Wowcherarestalkingme · 31/05/2021 23:26

I had this so I called my GP. They gave me an appointment at my surgery the next day.

srghcx · 31/05/2021 23:34

I found my locations were changing every day when I tried. I'd try for a couple of days and if nothing suitable comes up maybe see if your GP can help.

saraclara · 31/05/2021 23:35

The site is constantly updated. Seriously, just refresh a few times a day, and you'll soon get one nearer.

ViperAtTheGatesOfDawn · 31/05/2021 23:41

Keep trying, but I wouldn't rely on waiting for your GP to contact you, as in some areas GP hubs only did groups 1-9 and are shutting up shop now.

saraclara · 31/05/2021 23:46

Our GPs only contacted those with medical reasons for needing the jab. All age-related vaccines, from day 1, were done via the NHS website and our hubs are run by a local consortium of pharmacies. Phone the surgery for anything, and the first thing you'd hear would be a recorded message saying "don't call us about Covid jabs"

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 31/05/2021 23:50

Have a look at your local council website and CCG website too, here in Leicester we have lots of pop up drop in clinics being set up which through the NHS coronavirus booking website. Like this if anyone's in Leicester.

saraclara · 01/06/2021 00:01

...and watch/join your local FB page. Our hub is really active on there. The other day it posted at 3pm, to say 'come on down now if you qualify for a jab'
It had impromptu walk-in sessions most days last week. They don't want a single jab or a single slot to go to waste. But it was all on FB, because it's the only way to let people know very quickly.

Thanks so much everyone

I didn’t make myself clear when I said about GP text...where we are the surgery you’re registered at will text with a link to book a vaccination. It’s a separate way to the general nhs way and will only give you options of vaccination hubs which are generally closer. It is ahead of the National NHD roll out here by about a week. The surgery itself isn’t offering vaccinations at all.
ViperAtTheGatesOfDawn · 01/06/2021 18:34

Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo I would guess that's area dependent/postcode lottery then, we don't have that here.

Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo · 01/06/2021 18:38

I shouldn’t have assumed everywhere did that. I’m in the south and it’s a huge area it covers with the two hubs.
