At the end of June, I'm going to join the gym. I'm 15 stone and veeery unfit. But I've reached the brink. It's loss weight and get fit or forever feel worthless and disgusting. I'm so nervous. How/ where do I start with a body like this??

You should really be starting with your diet tbh - the gym will help you tone up and get fitter, but it's very, very hard to lose weight by exercise alone.

But well done! It's a great step forward, and hopefully the gym staff will be welcoming and help you to get into a good routine.

I'm over 15 stone and go to classes at the sports centre. I prefer classes to the gym itself and it can be a social occasion as well as working out. I have made friends through going.

Ask for a gym induction and they will show you how to use the machines. They may be able to offer you a tailored program but some places may charge extra for that. Good luck Smile

Yes I am beginning with my diet. Absolutely right! Cutting out junk and stopping the snacking first. I think if I'm at the gym every other evening I won't be sitting alone eating and sad. I really do want to be healthy and know what having a slim body feels like. It's been years since I've known what it's like to feel light.. I've spent 70+ hours a week working and I just want to spend some time on myself - I hate what I have become. I don't feel like me anymore.

I find just being out the house stops me snacking so that's a bonus too

Blimey that's a long working week!

I know that feeling OP. I joined a transformation gym about 18 months ago. Loads of support with eating plans, recipes, helping set calories and macros and strength workouts using weights and gym machines. Got myself back within 10 months and I'm the fittest I've ever been.

Oh what's a transformation gym?! Sounds incredible!
I need like minded people to go on this journey with but have no idea where to find them. I'll need to do this on my own and it's terrifying.

It's a gym where they specialise in body transformations. They want you to go regularly and you get more personal attention, smaller group sessions. They tend to be more expensive than the bigger gyms you may be familiar with, but worth it imho. I go to one near home. I stumbled upon the one I go to on Facebook when I had decided I was going to make the effort to lose weight and they were opening a new branch near me.
