Inexpensive bedding

Can anyone recommend bedding that is quite cheap but good quality. I want one or two king size duvet sets. I have put off buying because we were planning to buy a new bed (probably super king) but that's realistically a 6-12 months away as we are concentrating on other things.

We have one duvet set, which is mostly fine as I wash and put it on the same day, but I need at least one more for washing when this isn't possible and also want something slightly nicer as this one was coloured to match the decor in our old house. I don't want to spend a lot since we are likely to get a bigger bed.

Probably just something plain / one colour.

I'm thinking supermarkets may be the best place or somewhere like Matalan?

We buy our bedding from Asda-it washes really well and is reasonably priced

Asda and Next usually have lovely sets.

Amazon has good bedding under their Amazon Basics line.

Beamur · 31/05/2021 16:49

I would have said Primark but they're not online.
I've bought bedding from supermarkets before and it's fine. Pretty decent quality and not too expensive from Next too if you're after basic solid colours, they have a good range of colours usually.

ouchmyfeet · 31/05/2021 16:49

I've found primark bedding to be good quality

Jenjenn · 31/05/2021 16:50

I like Ikea nattjasmin series but I am in the white bedding only camp.

blahblahblah321 · 31/05/2021 16:50

Asda has always worked well for us

amylou8 · 31/05/2021 16:50

Another vote for Asda. Very good quality for the price.

blahblahblah321 · 31/05/2021 16:50

Matalan also have some nice sets, wash well too. Never had much luck with Argos

lifeinlimbo2020 · 31/05/2021 16:53

Asda 100% every time now. Just got a lovely 100% organic cotton king size duvet set for £22 and it's lovely. Had a pure brushed cotton one over winter and that washed brilliantly and was lovely too. My sheets tho I get from M and S Egyptian cotton ones for £65 🤣🤣

We have a super king duvet on a king bed - could you not do that?

Moomoo42 · 31/05/2021 17:01

Dunelm.

I have a super king duvet on my king sized bed. There also isn't a lot between the sizes for the fitted sheets either.

dannydyerismydad · 31/05/2021 17:03

Bedeck has an outlet site. You can get £££ bedding for very little money.

kitkatsky · 31/05/2021 17:04

Argos stuff is fine tbh! The important thing is to get a cotton or poly cotton blend then wash with copious fabric softener before using it (I usually do two washes but I'm pedantic!)

soberfabulous · 31/05/2021 17:04

As others have said, asda is amazing. Their super king sets are such great value.

Bobbybobbins · 31/05/2021 17:08

Asda and Dunelm are great

3Britnee · 31/05/2021 17:08

I really like primark bedding but like others said, they aren't online.

Maybe looking freecycle or Facebook

ElderMillennial · 31/05/2021 17:09

Thanks all

I'll look at those

We have a super king duvet on a king bed - could you not do that?

Sorry I don't follow. How would that help me?

It would mean buying a super king duvet now, as well as bedding, which seems silly when we haven't got the bed yet and it is possible we would buy a different size bed.

Matalan, Asda,Primark and Sainsbury. I have bought bedding from them all and not had any problems.

Hallyup6 · 31/05/2021 17:16

I second Dunelm. They sell different depth sheets too, which we've found brilliant as we have a slightly deeper mattress and sheets from Matalan and Asda just kept coming off.

PASStheCAKEandCHOC · 31/05/2021 17:17

Asda. Never had a problem. I prefer it to expensive ones. Always washes lovely and softer.

Ariela · 31/05/2021 17:18

I can tell you that the last lot of bedding I bought from Sainsburys didn't last as long as I expected (not even 3 years) before falling apart. The 10 year old John Lewis is still going strong though.

Dotoallasyouwouldbedoneby · 31/05/2021 17:19

M&S has some two for one packs of 'cotton mix' bedding in stock and some lovely flowery summer designs in 100% cotton:www.marksandspencer.com/l/home-and-furniture/bedding/duvet-covers-and-bedding-sets.

GameSetMatch · 31/05/2021 17:27

The only place that does reasonably priced 100% cotton bedding* is Asda I won’t food shop at Asda but I must say the bedding is superb, better than my Laura Ashley and M&S sets!
