Posting this here for anyone who isn't aware and wants to opt out and avoid sensitive information about their mental and sexual health, criminal records and abuse being uploaded from GP records into a database that will be shared with third parties.

Article in FT explaining:

Website explaining in detail how to opt out for GP data sharing and NHS Digital data sharing (different data and processes).

Good reminder we did ours last night - what about under 18's?

SomethingOnce · 31/05/2021 16:22

Outrageous move and they’ve made it super fucking tedious to opt out.

Thank goodness for medconfidential Star

SomethingOnce · 31/05/2021 16:23

@Lighttunnelahead, look at the website - it explains how to opt out on behalf of DC.

Is this just England?

Choconuttolata · 31/05/2021 18:46

Yes so far for GP data. You would have to check the NHS digital site to see if that is also for devolved nations.

Thank you for sharing.

Tip of the iceberg 😡

DontDrinkDontSmokeWhatDoIDo · 31/05/2021 18:52

OP - do you mind if I share this on AIBU with a blunter title?

CoffeeRunner · 31/05/2021 18:52

When you say uploaded to a database to be shared with third parties - what sort of third parties are we talking about?

If it's hospitals & clinics I'm fine with it as the entire medical profession is bound by strict confidentiality laws.

I can't speaj for OP but I nearly did that last night.
DontDrinkDontSmokeWhatDoIDo · 31/05/2021 19:14

I've added a post in AIBU.

Will be interesting to see any comments.

Feel free to share. Third party companies for the GP data, for profit.
