Anyone from Cardiff?

Just arrived for a break and didn’t realise there is no parking at the hotel. We’re parked in Greyfriars car park at a (discounted) rate of £24 😳

Is there anywhere a bit further out we could leave the car at for a few days that’s cheaper?

I thought Sophia Gardens may be cheaper

Sophia Gardens is £17.60 for 24 hours so not much cheaper ☹️

Not sure where you are staying or the cost. What about outside the museum or along that stretch? Or there are park and rides located further out of town.

Have you tried parkopedia?

Northernsoullover · 30/05/2021 20:32

Oh God even Cardiffians don't park there! St David's 2 is cheaper but they lock up at midnight.

Northernsoullover · 30/05/2021 20:33

Ignore that suggestion I was just about to send you the link and noticed it was 25 quid for 24 hours Hmm

Unihorn · 30/05/2021 20:35

There's random areas of very limited free street parking in Roath and Grangetown if you're not too bothered about the security of your car and walking...

Northernsoullover · 30/05/2021 20:36

You can park for free at City Hall from 8 overnight for free but you would have to pay in the morning. Look up MiPermit app. You can pay online so you won't have to leave the hotel to put a ticket on it.

Northernsoullover · 30/05/2021 20:39

If you do park at city Hall make sure you get the correct meter number. Some of it is short stay and the further back is long stay.

www.cardiff.gov.uk/ENG/resident/Parking-roads-and-travel/parking/Car-parks/Pages/Car-Parks.aspx apparently Sophia Gardens do a week for £30ish though so may be worth it if youre here a few days.

Try and park down by the riverside across the road from the stadium - I think it's free in the evenings.

CoolAsACourgette · 30/05/2021 20:43

Cathedral Road (by Sophia Gardens- 10min walk into town) has free street parking. Usually gets busy during the day but should be able to find a spot in the evening.

Drive to Radyr, about 4 miles from Greyfriars, park for free at the train station and either catch a train back or, if you're a cyclist, walk up the hill to Radyr and hire a Nextbike and cycle along the Taff Trail back to the city centre.

You'll need the Nextbike app to do that.
