How do I block links from Whatsapp

Hoping there’ll be someone tech savvy on here who can help.

DS is 11 and we don’t allow him to have the tiktok app (not here to debate this point!). I have also blocked the website from his phone so he can’t directly access it himself. He does have WhatsApp however and I’ve noticed that if friends send links to tiktok videos he can click through the links and access these. The videos being sent by his friends are in themselves harmless but the “suggested viewing” videos that follow them are not what I would want him to watch.

Can anyone tell me why he can still access these videos through links when the site itself is blocked on his phone?

He has an android phone if that makes a difference.

How are they opening up? When I click on links in Whatsapp, they seem to come up in Chrome which is my phone's browser. Is it doing that on his phone?

And where/how have you blocked the site? Through what app or menu?

Otherwise, it's most likely due to the format of the link.

So for example if you have blocked www.tiktok.com but you haven't blocked m.tiktok.com and the m. ones are being allowed through.

(I don't use tiktok so no idea how the links are formatted.)

Ah ok thank you. Yes it comes up in chrome. I’ve blocked it in the google family app and it is working for example if you try going to the tiktok site through google, it just doesn’t seem to block the videos themselves through the WhatsApp links. I’ll look at the web addresses and see if that’s it. Thank you for your help 😊
