Does anyone have one? Do you need a filter or will chlorine tablets keep it clear?

How big?

Dd and SiL acquired a 3m x 2m above ground for Gdcs last year. Great success, but it does needs a filter and chlorine tablets.

Motherof3dogs · 30/05/2021 10:21

Thanks, about that size.

PS, and a heater! SiL has recently bought solar heaters for it but I don’t think he’s plumbed them in yet. Cost of heating otherwise is very steep, and it’s not much use without, if they won’t want to use it.

Was great last summer though, for maintaining water confidence when all the pools were closed. They could already swim (after a fashion) so the pool kept that going and improved it.
A cover and steps (very popular for jumping in) were extras, ditto the mat underneath, which is probably essential.

We have one similar size to GETTING. We keep up it for weeks, so chlorine tablets and test it with strips daily. We also have a solar powered pump/heater which warms and filters the water.

Motherof3dogs · 30/05/2021 20:50

@ThePontiacBandit do you know the make of your pump\heater?

We had a large (14ft) round blue index above ground pool last summer. Cost a bomb in filters, pool heater, chemicals, constant dip tests, pool shock etc but well worth every penny for the glorious weather!
We have a pool shop local to us which was invaluable for advice though, if we ran into any issues dh would go up there and have a chat, come home and it would be sorted.
He really enjoyed the maintenance side of things though, I would have just been emptying it all the time (well not really, the water waste would have been insane and it took about 12 hours to fill as it was) but we managed to get 3 months out of the water before we put it away again.
