What age do children question life?

My DC asked me today "why am I alive?" - it threw me as we were just having lunch! I remember thinking things like that but at 8+ years old and I don't remember ever asking anyone, just thinking about it myself.

Anyone else been asked this? What age were your children? What did you say?

My 8 & 6 yo we’re debating god the other day. The eldest saying he doesn’t exists and her reasoning why and the youngest saying he does (been learning about it at school).

Although my eldest is still happy to believe in the tooth fairy & Father Christmas 🤣😂 I think she knows the truth but is still happy to go along with it.
