Johnson has married Carrie. What big bad news is this covering up?

I can't think why else it would just have been announced.

OP posts:

I assume it's because we aren't in lockdown ATM, so the wedding and reception would be less restricted. We don't know if the new variants will make things harder in the near future. They've been engaged for a while so it isn't a surprise. I also wonder if they might have another baby before long. I doubt Boris gives Dom Cummings much thought. Most things are water off a duck's back to Boris, and DC is coming across as bitter and slightly unhinged.

TheVanguardSix · 30/05/2021 10:44

Best comment I've read in the Daily Fail comments section:

"Now showing- 3 weddings and 150,000 funerals"

itsgettingwierd · 30/05/2021 11:06

@Clavinova

Johnson started having the affair with Carrie in 2018, so I’m not sure what it is your trying to defend here.

Obvious to me - the rumours that Boris Johnson had an affair behind his wife's back when she had cancer/or deserted his wife when she had cancer are not true - his ex wife was diagnosed with cancer after they had separated and after she had obtained a decree nisi.

He had an affair (or more)

That's bad enough and is indefensible.

True her diagnosis was after she started divorcing the shite - poor woman was just having good news and then that.

@doubleshotespresso

I think as his legally wedded spouse Carrie cannot be called as a witness in any proceedings/charges brought against him, so a deft trick?!
That would be my reading of the situation.

In which case why do so many posters want to embellish that fact with a reference to his ex wife's cancer? That is indefensible.

Joe Biden is a practising Catholic - he had an affair with his now wife when she was married to another man. Perhaps we should disinvite him from the G7 Summit because of his questionable morals?

Notonthestairs · 30/05/2021 11:45

When Joe Biden becomes our Prime Minister I'll care about his affair - until then I'll focus on our own dear leader.

ConcernedAuntie · 30/05/2021 11:48

@dangerrabbit

More revleations from Dominic Cummings?
Boris and Carrie getting married will make 0% difference to any other news stories for 99.9% of the UK population.
midsomermurderess · 30/05/2021 11:51

I can't see criminal proceedings being brought against Johnson so this thing people are raising about spouses not being compellable looks like a red herring. It is of course a distraction from the latest shit show, but maybe they did feel a quick, low-key do, in all the circumstances, would attract the least criticism. And I wonder if Symonds wasn't getting impatient to get her status regularised.

SylvanianFrenemies · 30/05/2021 11:53

General "feel good" in face of ongoing news, plus maybe baby #2/7ish.

Peregrina · 30/05/2021 11:56

Baby No 8 at least, I would think. He will almost outcompete Mick Jagger in the offspring stakes. Although I can't remember how many MJ has now, but I do know that he's a great grandfather. Doesn't really go with the rocker image, does it?

Port1aCastis · 30/05/2021 12:00

Yes I agree with OP all this is to cover up dirty deeds done deep, bozo is a wanker of the highest order hopefully karma will expose the man eventually, also think Carrie is upduffed with her second and bozos sixth or is that seventh......

QioiioiioQ · 30/05/2021 12:04

Of course the wedding is just part of a strategy to distract from dirty deeds done very expensively

QioiioiioQ · 30/05/2021 12:06

And I wonder if Symonds wasn't getting impatient to get her status regularised
Maybe he also needs to stop Symonds from dishing the dirt....?

midsomermurderess · 30/05/2021 12:08

As I said, I don't think Johnson is going to be prosecuted for anything. Symonds can always 'dish the dirt' if she decides too, if this relationship ends like all his other ones.

My mistake - I thought you were taking a moral stance. You just care about Boris Johnson's affair/s because you don't vote Conservative.

I like to think it’s not to deflect anything. They were due to get married last year anyway and couldn’t

Why are people so nasty all the time in here. Why can’t they just be happy for someone*
This in spafrs6what a nasty, nasty thread

Where did I take a moral stance?
CagneyNYPD · 30/05/2021 12:14

I think Carrie was quite simply fed up of being described as a gf/fiancée. She wanted the title of wife of the Prime Minister to cement her quite considerable influence behind the doors of no.10. It also shows that she isn't just about splashing the cash. I suspect that BJ has v little to do with it all and just turned up.

Clavinova · 30/05/2021 12:25

Where did I take a moral stance?

I assumed.

So you wouldn't care if Keir Starmer had an affair? And you don't care that Angela Rayner became a grandmother at age 37?

So how does a woman prosecute her husband for domestic violence then?? Surely this can’t be true?

I voted for Boris yes I am a knob

I care about his affairs and his lying.

I don't care about Joe Biden because I didn't irrationally and stupidly vote for him to run my country.

CherieBabySpliffUp · 30/05/2021 13:38

Apparently they had sent out "Save the date" cards for July next year so you do have to wonder what the rush is.

OhGodNotThisAgain · 30/05/2021 13:41

The news is They’re probably planning on locking us up for another year

Billandben444 · 30/05/2021 14:00

The Save the Date for next July is to celebrate their wedding - the big knees up that they can't have at the moment and hopefully by next summer restrictions will be a distant memory. I can't believe some of the nasty comments on here (particularly when there is a little boy involved) and I wish them well.

This is my take.

The PR is a bonus.
