We have a week away booked in Yealand Conyers, Carnforth, Lake District at the end of August. We'd love some recommendations of places to visit, nice pubs (with gardens) to visit, things to do for a 13 and 15 year old. Thank you in advance.

Went many years ago, so no help with places to visit, sorry, but it was so beautiful, you will love it.

Sorry to be a pain but you are not in the Lake District at Yealand. It's not far away but you will need to add travelling time to your planned excursions. You can go up the M6 for North Lakes and via Kendal for South Lakes. What sort of things do you like doing?

Thanks Roystonv...yes I know we aren't actually in the Lake District but hopefully close enough! Do you have any suggestions for good places to visit with teenagers? Thank you

I live very near here! Some activities that are more South Lakes, so hopefully not too far for you:

  • Canoeing or paddle boarding on Lake Windermere at Fell Foot Park. You can have a walk around the wildflower meadow afterwards.
  • Boat trip on Lake Windermere. Start from Lakeside and get off at Bowness. Loads of great shops and cafes/restaurants in Bowness and fancy houses and hotels (and hills etc. Grin) to look at from the boat. You can also get a steam train to Lakeside from Haverthwaite if any of you are into that.
  • Sizergh castle. You can visit the house/gardens/cafe or just park there and do one of the nice walks.
  • Grange Over Sands is nice for a wander along the promenade and in the gardens. I highly recommend The Hazelmere for food if you visit.

Natural lime stone pavement at Gait Barrow is great

Lots of good walks in the silverdale/arnside area, you don't have to go to the Lake District.

Leighton Moss RSPB if they're into wildlife.
Leighton Hall is pleasant, and they have birds of prey displays.

Lakeland Motor Museum - the combined tickets with the railway and boats seem to have stopped but may be back by August.
Holker Hall and gardens.

Lakeland Segway at Cartmel (and sticky toffee pudding)

Thank you so much SummerWhy, Structuredsward, ErrolTheDragon, Iwantacampervan and SconeOfStone. I will investigate all those suggestions.
