The tissue user who puts them into the pocket or the person loading the washing machine?

Ps I will only be sharing this thread with DH if everyone agrees with me Wink

I expect my DH to empty his pockets before he puts things in the wash basket

CoffeeCakey · 28/05/2021 21:20

I refuse to check a grown adult's pockets for snotty tissues. I don't want to touch their snot. I'd rather fume when the washing comes out covered in fluff.

999caffeineplease · 28/05/2021 21:21

If the clothes have been put in the laundry basket by the wearer, then the wearer is responsible.

If the person doing the washing goes around scooping up random pieces of clothing, then they are responsible.

Kiki275 · 28/05/2021 21:21

The tissue user.
I always remember my best friends mum getting annoyed about her husband leaving things in his pocket. She always did a quick check stating that if she found a fiver etc. it was then hers and he couldn't complain about it.x

Endlesscleaning · 28/05/2021 21:21

Tissue wearer unless it’s a young child.

Sparklynewname · 28/05/2021 21:23

It should be the wearer AND the washer does a quick check. Sadly, in my house, it’s me who does all the washing AND always leaves tissues in my pockets. I always promise myself that I will do better 😂

AntiSocialDistancer · 28/05/2021 21:24

In our house its the person washing them.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 28/05/2021 21:25

Clothes wearer.... however that results in clean coins and tissue bobbled clothes in my house. So if I remember I do a quick check.

ScissorsBike · 28/05/2021 21:28

The trouser wearer

ozymandiusking · 28/05/2021 21:30

I wear rubber gloves to check. The wearer is supposed to remove pocket
rubbish. You can guarantee, the occasion I don't check is when a tissue is left in the pocket. And, it's always a dark wash.

lucysmam · 28/05/2021 21:39

Definitely the tissue user!

Same goes for biros left in pockets too 🙄

I do still have a quick check before the washer goes on though.

Chewbecca · 28/05/2021 21:41

Urgh, I do not want to handle other people’s dirty tissues as I put the washing on, nor do I expect anyone else to deal with mine.

MaryBoBary · 28/05/2021 21:45

The person who put the clothes in the laundry basket. If someone picks something up from bedroom etc and washes it, they should check pockets first.

Twoforthree · 28/05/2021 21:47

I’ve never checked pockets. It’s up to the wearer,

MuchTooTired · 28/05/2021 21:48

The person loading the washing machine if it’s DH.

The pocket owner if it’s me who’s loading the machine.

I check pockets when I load the machine, but it really irritates me cleaning out other people’s pockets.

TolkiensFallow · 28/05/2021 21:48

Whoever puts them in the dirty clothes basket

Scarby9 · 28/05/2021 21:50

Everyone!
I think the consequences are too serious (well, jolly bloomin' annoying) for responsibility to be left to any one person.
The wearer of the clothes should empty pockets and check sleeves when putting the clothes in the washing basket; the washer should also check before putting them in the machine.

ShoutingBirb · 28/05/2021 21:51

The trouser owner.

Howzaboutye · 28/05/2021 21:51

Solution- buy expensive Kleenex that do not disintegrate in the wash! We have a happier marriage and higher quality tissues!

OrangePowder · 28/05/2021 21:54

The owner of the clothes, but for sanitiy's sake only buy the tissues in little packs that don't disintegrate in the wash.

Money left in pockets belongs to the launderer.

Whythesadface · 28/05/2021 21:54

I have found £50 in 3 lots of emptying the fluff in the tumble dryer.
So is it perks of the job?

gurglebelly · 28/05/2021 21:56

Depends on circumstances! If the item has been put in the wash basket then it's definitely the responsibility of the wearer. If the person doing the washing has scooped clothes up from anywhere else (floor, chair, bed) then it's their responsibility

IHaveBrilloHair · 28/05/2021 21:56

Trouser owner who I then want to kill

gurglebelly · 28/05/2021 21:57

And that's only because the wearer may not be expecting the clothes to go in the wash (eg I often wear jeans multiple times before putting in the wash)

YewandOak · 28/05/2021 21:57

The person loading the washing machine.
