Does anyone have any ideas for homemade mouse movers?

I have a new job and the screen timeout function cannot be changed at all.

Thanks

This is not the post I thought it was going be 😂

No ideas op, but will let you know if any come to me!

LemonMuffins · 28/05/2021 15:58

😂 I was all ready to provide tips on making your own mouse catching devices Grin

Your hand?

I seriously hope that since this is a new job you don't want it for the reason most people do - to pretend that you are working from home when you aren't even there!

But try Google - I just found enough YouTube videos to keep you busy reading them.

Also type mouse jiggler into eBay. At the prices, probably not worth screwing around with DIY

Susannahmoody · 28/05/2021 17:25

Oh sorry, you thought I meant an actual mouse?!

No, a computer one Grin

An apple on the space bar has worked well for DH for the last 5 or so years. Open excel or word pad and let it do its magic....

Mochudubh · 28/05/2021 17:45

Tie it to the cat.

Got a small desk fan? DH suggests attaching mouse to rotating desk fan

JorisBonson · 28/05/2021 19:59

Open a PowerPoint, write any old gibberish and press the little book icon at the very bottom on the right hand side. Keeps your screen on.

I've been really busy wfh honest

FelicityBeedle · 28/05/2021 20:00

Alternatively my suggestion is you get button genies on Amazon, to turn non WiFi appliances to remote control, one of those might work on space bar

Does anyone have any ideas for homemade mouse movers?

Why? If you're working, it's not going to time out? 🧐

Craftycorvid · 28/05/2021 21:30

Was about to suggest my step-daughter’s cat - he moves plenty of mice! 😸

Mykittensmittens · 28/05/2021 21:48

I genuinely have never done this intentionally but have noticed that if I’m working at my desk upstairs, with my mouse which has a light in it (like an LED coloured light) the laptop ‘sleeps’ as it should.

If I take the laptop downstairs and put it and the mouse on the worktop (shiny composite) the LED mouse keeps flickering and doesn’t ‘sleep’ I guess it’s the light reflecting or something?

No one monitors me anyway and fat chance I’d have a chance to pretend to be busy and not be, but I do have a tendency to need to walk and pace when on endless calls so it does mean I don’t look ‘sleeping’ when I’m not.

all you need is a watch (not digital)

Susannahmoody · 29/05/2021 00:16
