How has someone been able to like my photo on my FB page when they aren't a friend?

I have it set so if a non friend looked at my page they can see profile and cover photos but there is no way they can like it.
I'm baffled.

Did you tag someone else in it?

Did you tag a friend in the photo when you posted it. If you do that it means the people who are friends with the person you tagged can also see and like the photo.

Profile and cover photos are always public.

I haven't tried in a while, but I don't think the privacy options allow you to stop people from liking anymore.

If you have something available to view for non-friends, you can make it so that non-friends can't comment, but it no longer says "like or comment" like it used to, and the instructions in the Help Centre only refer to stopping people from commenting on posts now.

Yes - everyone can see your profile and cover pictures

If I look at it as the public sees it it only has share, not like underneath the photos.

Ah just read that you have settings so they shouldn't be able to like it. Odd!

Fb is strange lately. When I do a status and go to share with a custom audience loads of my friends don't show up on the app but are there on the desktop page.

So you've got it set like this Is? It's a bit worrying if it's not working.

I went back and re set ^^ that and twice when I looked at it again it had changed from friends only to friends of friends . It must be a glitch but at least it solved the mystery!
