Advice re return of large items

I wonder if I could please ask your advice on the return of two (very) large chairs.

I ordered the chairs online and when they arrived I struggled to put them together (the advert said no assembly required - I wouldn’t have ordered if I had known I would have to lift the chairs onto their swivel base).

I disposed of the packaging as I live in a very small disabled assisted flat and I couldn’t move around easily. I then saw that the chairs were not good quality with various faults. The company have agreed a refund but want me to return the chairs in suitable packaging.

The boxes I need are really expensive due to their size and I don’t know how I will manage to repack them and I am worried that they will become more damaged in transit. I have rheumatoid arthritis and it would be a huge struggle for me to repack them. Any suggestions on how I might respond to the company? Many thanks and sorry if this is long.

  1. have you told the company about your disability and asked them what assistance they can give you?
  2. you can use freecycle or Olio to source packaging to protect the items even if you can't get hold of big boxes.

The company (Weilai Concept) have changed their advertisement for the chairs since I bought them - now saying some assembly required!

Ask on your local FB page for any large boxes
