Indian condolence gifts

My friend has had a bereavement of a close family member.
She's Indian (Christian if that makes a difference).
What would be an appropriate condolence gift to send? I heard that it's not a Hindu tradition to send flowers but not sure if that would apply to Christian Indians too? Any advice?

My friend had flowers sent from work and appreciated them. She's Indian and Hindu. I think you'll be fine with a sober bunch of flowers. More so as she's Christian.

Google seems to think candles are a better gift.
