Is anyone on HRT?

Hi, I'm seriously thinking of going on HRT cause I am struggling with peri symptoms, mainly low mood and anxiety, also very tired with sort joints, periods all over the place. I had a blood test done a couple of months ago which confirmed that I am going through the change. I am 46. Was wondering how much HRT helps people. I was worried about the cancer risk, but I have recently read some information which has reassured me. I'm worried about gaining weight. I was on an off AD's between age 39 and 44, which didn't help with my weight. I'm not overweight as such, about 9st4 at 5ft5 tall, but I used to be much slimmer in my 30s. Despite diets (I have been half a stone heavier than I am at the moment), I have never got down to my old weight. I recognise that this is an age thing and also down in part to a bit of lack of self control, but my body has nevertheless changed. I would love to lose some weight, but even if I cant, I dont want it to get any worse and I am concerned. Just wondering what has happened for other people. Regarding diet, I have been in a weight loss forum for the past year and a half, it is continued work in progress which doesn't get very far. Any advice would be welcome. Know this should be in the menopause forum, but thought I would get more traffic here.

Im using evorel sequi patches.
I had irregular periods. Some heavy eith flooding. I had hot flushes, irritability, mood fluctuations.

The patches have helped all of that.

I never had a blood test,

Have tou watched the recent program Davina McCall did about menopause? Very informative and would recommend.

Also recommend the menopause doctor, louise newson.

There are some fab and really knowledgeable posters in the menopause section, you will get some great advice on there.

@Twospaniels thanks, I watched the Davina programme the other day and also watched the Women's Hour podcast where Louise Newson spoke. Feel encouraged knowing that the patches helped you.

The Dr originally put me on it as I was having really heavy periods in my mid 50's the difference was immense I didn't realise what a mental "fog" I had been living in up till then. I am nearly 70 and still on it, I came off temporarily in 2019 as there was an HRT shortage, and the brain fog returned!
I have an Aunt now aged 94 who took HRT well into her 80's she reckons it saved her sanity and her relationship with my Uncle.
I have not noticed any particular weight gain related to the HRT as I have always struggled to keep at a healthy weight, but I think you naturally gain weight/change shape when the menopause hits.
