Anyone have any ideas what this lump is on my foot

Anyone have any idea what this is? Noticed it a couple of weeks ago but getting bigger & redder. I am waiting for telephone consultation with my GP, but feeling a bit freaked out about it tonight.

Typical site for a ganglion cyst but does need to be examined and palpated in person.
