I've got a child free day with my partner tomorrow, we are staying near Kingston upon Themes. Where shall we go for lunch/coffee/stroll?

Brownies and coffee at Local Hero and then walk along the Thames to Hampton Court

LivingDeadGirlUK · 27/05/2021 20:19

Hampton court is a good shout although looks like you have to pay even to just go in the gardens now.

That Local Hero cafe looks nice!

Petersham Nurseries (for lunch and a browse) and 17th century Ham House are only a few minutes away on the bus. And cheaper than Hampton Court - although I would like to see that Field of Cloth of Gold exhibition.
Strawberry Hill House likewise.

I second local hero, it's so good!! It's a bit further north, but would recommend Ham House (National Trust), walk in Richmond Park..

Wimbledon Common. Say hello to Orinoco if you see him.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 27/05/2021 20:36

I've already met him once in 2005 at a bus stop in Tooting @newnortherner111

Cross Kingston bridge and walk down the path towards Hampton Court.

Local Hero is nice, or get a coffee from a stall in the market place. The terrace cafe does amazing sandwiches :)

Mrspopper · 27/05/2021 22:25

Walk along river, food stalls in market place, lunch somewhere along river (boaters pub is nice) or harts boatyard at surbiton. Enjoy!

Get all the Austrian/Bavarian food from Steins, walk along the river, Bushy Park, Richmond Park or even Kew isn't that far.. I miss living round there.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 28/05/2021 08:03

Oh that Steins looks delicious!

Is that big antiques place still in Kingston? It was on the street with the leaning telephone boxes. Loved it there.

KindergartenKop · 28/05/2021 21:15

Yes antiques shop is still there :)

LivingDeadGirlUK · 30/05/2021 18:53

Had a lovely time in Bushy park, thanks for the tips everyone :)
