Urgent help needed
Have had tender forehead for a few days and today have developed blotches above eyebrow and on eyelid.
Suspect it may be shingles.
Will call gp in am
Problem, mum having chemo for cancer and I am sole carer.
She has had chicken pox but not shingles.
Can she catch it from me ??

You can't catch shingles.

You can't 'catch' shingles but if you haven't had chicken pox you can catch chicken pox from someone with shingles.

So, theoretically, your mum is safe.

You can't catch Shingles from someone with shingles. But you can get chicken pox from contact with someone with Shingles during the infectious stage. Shingles is a reoccurrence of the Chicken pox virus which remains lays dormant in your system until something triggers it.

If she has had chicken pox she will be fine

On a personal note you tend to get shingles when you are run down so perhaps a bit more self care is needed Flowers
