Cordless hoover recommendations please!

I have a Shark currently (purple one - not sure what model!) - I've never been hugely impressed with it but it's done the job for about 4 years. Lately it's not been picking up bits at all and stuff has been falling out when I turn it off so it's time for a new one.

We have cats so needs to be very sucky (technical term) and small enough to fit in a tiny understated cupboard.

I have the AEG pet and the Hoover Pet cordless. Both are good, but if I had to choose I would definitely say the AEG - it totally demolishes Border Collie hair on the carpet, and many "real" hoovers can't do that.
