Severe abdominal spasms 2 years after c section

Hi everyone,

2 years ago I had a planned c section and recovered well. But whenever I try and do sits ups I get awfully painful abdominal cramps/spasms. They are so bad I can't move until the pain stops. I can't pinpoint why this is as I have no pain near my scar. It's just in the stomach muscles. Any idea why this is?Hmm

Hi @Cassie333 - long shot that you’ll see this but did you ever find out what caused these spasms? I’m 15 months post emcs and getting the same thing!

Hi Pearl, sadly I never actually figured out the cause. Even now ( my son is 5) I'm weary of doing sit ups just in case I cramp up. I take apple cider to reduce the likelihood of cramps, but my theory is the surgeon done some irreversible muscle damage while cutting me open.

I have abdominal adhesions, they feel similar to what you are describing and they also form from scar tissue and can spread. Hard to diagnose though, took me 6 years and an operation to find out.

Hi @Cassie333 @Purpleraiin thank you so much for replying! Yes I’ve been thinking adhesions potentially. GP has been totally useless so imagine I’ll get nowhere with a diagnosis. Hoping I’ll be able to have a second baby but worrying now about damage done from first surgery.
@Cassie333 ill try apple cider vinegar, thank you!
