Lillies causing headaches?

I had my birthday this weekend and dh bought me some lillies. That afternoon I started to feel sick and dizzy. It passed but I was left with a heavy headache. The headache has come and gone over the last few days and I keep feeling nauseous. Also my nose feels really stuffy.
I have moved the lillies to the bottom of the kitchen but I can still smell them.
Could it be the lillies causing this? They do smell really really strong! I would feel awful binning them!

it could be, they trigger my hayfever something shocking!

Doidontimmm · 26/05/2021 10:47

Yes my friend and I both had similar reactions to them Sad

Spied · 26/05/2021 10:50

I'm pretty sure they trigger my migraines.

You’re probably allergic to them.

I get migraines whenever I am near lavender.
Just put them outside

artquejtion · 26/05/2021 11:02

I wouldn't be surprised. I am so allergic to Lillies, I get really wheezy if I am anywhere near them.

IWantAllTheDogsInTheWorld · 26/05/2021 11:18

Definitely the lilies, I have the same reaction and if there are ever any delivered in a bouquet I have to take them out and give them to my neighbour. Beautiful flowers but not healthy!

ImperfectTents · 26/05/2021 11:21

Cut the stamens off. Or even better get someone else to

TheDiddlyGang · 26/05/2021 11:22

My mum is allergic and can’t be in the same room as them, she gets a headache and feels nauseous

Palavah · 26/05/2021 11:23

Yes cut the stamens off at the base. I do this immediately with lilies.

TheVolturi · 26/05/2021 12:19

Oh wow so definitely looks like this is the cause! Thank you, I am going to put them outside, I have always loved lillies but never had any that smelled this potent!

Yes, I get this with lillies. Very strong scent causing headaches and I also used to get a runny nose and red eyes. I hate them.
