Teenager using club card vouchers for meal

My teenager wants to do a shopping day and lunch with her friend during half term. She’d like to have a “posh” lunch and whilst I could give her the money, I have loads of club card vouchers that I can convert.

Has anyone given their teenagers the vouchers to use on their own? Our daughter is nearly 15 but is a socially awkward penguin so will panic if anything out of the ordinary happens.

In usual times, I would lurk in town in case of emergencies but I have chemo next week and won’t be up to it.

I did it a while back with Pizza Express, was fine 😊

Honestly there are so many discounts out there that I think it’s excpected when ordering a meal with chains that a voucher will be involved!

Thanks, that’s brilliant.
Just knowing that others have done it will give her confidence.

the only thing i would say is to tell her to tell the waiting staff she is using clubcard vouchers so the girls are given the right menu....the vouchers usually cannot be used for any lunch offers iyswim...got to be your standard menu items.

could you book and tell staff as well??

I’d just give her the cash and use the vouchers yourself. If she’s socially awkward it could turn a fun day out into a nightmare for her if they question the vouchers or something.

Used these lots of times and it’s always straight forward, I normally have them ready on my phone to show the waitress/waiter as soon as I’m sat down rather than waiting until the end. That way, if they’re not accepting them for whatever reason I know before I’ve ordered any food! Smile

Twoforthree · 25/05/2021 21:57

My kids did it regularly. As a pp said, tell the waitress up front, that they are being used.

I’ll remind her on the day, and run through a scenario list.
I think I’ll also suggest they eat first. I’m giving her money for clothes but if she needs it to pay for food, I can transfer her some more.
