Where / how can I get a PlayStation 5?

DSD is desperate for one. He’s had a tough time at uni recently and we would love to get him one for his upcoming birthday. But they seem impossible to get hold of. Does anyone have any tips, or details of where we can formally pre-order?

I ended up following stock checker apps/Twitter accounts to get one. They announce when there's likely to be drops. Took me five or six attempts to get one. Stock usually goes within a matter of minutes. It was a nightmare.

I used HotStock (the app) and eventually got one after weeks of trying from Shopto.net (after queuing in an online pre-order queue for ages)!

I got mine by using PS5stockalertuk on Twitter. Tried the hot stock app but didn't get anywhere with that.

I work at Argos , our store had nearly 150 last week but they tend to release stock online at 3am . Which is daft . Someone came into store on Sunday and managed to get a random one sitting in stock that wasn’t showing up online . Maybe go into store when you’re in town and just ask if they can check their system cat no is 834 9000 I think that’s the disk drive one . We are due some soon but it says not as many as last week .

My partner knew what date the PS5 would be in stock on Game, he went on his computer from early hours in the morning and just sat there for a long time refreshing the page and managed to buy one the instant it popped up. He didn't have to wait in a queue (usually you get put in a queue, wait for ages, then find out the PS5 has sold out), and he bought it before it was even announced by Game or the stock checking websites Grin

He also said he checked out as a guest on the Game website as it's quicker and people who logged in had issues with them being logged out and losing the PS5 from their basket.

Oh another thing is he bought one that came with a t-shirt as it was less likely to be sniped by the bots or something.

This one seems to be the most effective from varies people on SM.

Because they're still going for silly money. I've found it bizarre, this crap should have ended by now. I've no plans to upgrade now until 2022. Couldn't be bloody bothered to go up against the scalpers. Scum bags.

I read there has been some shortage of components which is causing or adding to the delays

Thanks for the tip offs re Very and Argos

No joy yet but will keep trying. Birthday isn’t until July but want to get it sorted as we don’t really have a back up plan!

I followed numerous Twitter stock checkers from November onwards and finally got one from Shop To last week. It was a bundle that let me pre order but it came in a week. I queued regularly on all the shops over the last 6 months and came close to checking out on some when they crashed.

Don't give up, you will get one.

Know any famous people who can pulls strings? That's how we got ours. Rare but just a thought.

Don't be ridiculous! It was a suggestion. It wasn't an obvious route for us, it was through a work connection and they offered. I would never of thought of it. I don't give two shits whether my friends are famous or not. Get off your high horse.

I have FINALLY managed to get one using the HotStock app. Been trying since launch day in November!!

OP make sure you are logged into the most likely apps, with user name and password. It can be taken out if you basket whilst you faff round logging in

I jumped into the amazon app as soon as the alert came via HotStock and kept refreshing.

Also it's worth checking cex for the digital version (£340ish rather than the £750 they want for the disk version). They randomly had two in stock a couple of weeks ago (but 6 hours away from me)

Good luck, and sorry to say, get a back up plan
