Baby sitter in London hotel?

WaitroseAldi · 25/05/2021 18:45

We are hopefully going to see a show at the end of the year in London. We don’t have any family for childcare unfortunately. Our 13yo dd is coming To the show but we have a 5 and 12 year old who will be staying at the hotel. Is it possible to get a babysitter/nanny for the hotel? Is that a thing? Or are we best hiring a air bnb and getting a nanny for there?

Thank you

Is that a thing? Ive never heard of it. Wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving them.

I’ve seen that advertised before in some hotel room information books usually in more expensive hotels. Have you booked your hotel yet? If so, I would email guest services, I’m sure they’ll have a contact/process

I was the "nanny" at a hotel (long time ago). Worked in housekeeping, was reasonably sensible. Great money for hanging out watching a film while child i had never met slept and parents went to a festival show. No qualifications at all but able to phone for help and v ++ honest.

Things are probably stricter now!

I'd register with sitters and organise someone, but I'm sure a good hotel would have someone on hand through concierge.

Hi OP, I'm a nanny/babysitter I did a booking at a hotel through this agency https://www.likeminders.co.uk/ check them out.

Also feel free to send me a PM! Depending on when it is, I could potentially do it Smile

Yes definitely a thing - I’m going it next week! The hotel will prob be able to recommend a company or you could do it though eg sitters.

lastqueenofscotland · 25/05/2021 19:36

It is definitely a thing but usually at more high end hotels.

butterry · 25/05/2021 19:50

Ask the hotel, they might offer such a service or be able to recommend someone.

I’ve done it as a nanny. But it was at the Mandarin Oriental and I looked after a 1 year old. They were a family visiting from Saudi and I babysat three nights in a row. I charged £150 a night 😬 but that’s a completely normal rate for such a thing.

PerveenMistry · 25/05/2021 20:04

Yes, hotels in major cities generally can organize baby sitters. I would call the front desk and ask.

We have decided to book The Langham which offers babysitting :)

Fantastic! It’s such a beautiful hotel, although I’ve not had the joy of staying there. Have a brilliant trip!

Ooh very nice OP, I went to an uber posh wedding reception there once...Grin. Have fun!
