Talk to me about depression

I’ve been feeling so overwhelmed lately, there is a lot going on both at home and work and I just feel numb

Part of me thinks I need to just get on with it but the other part of me is on the verge of tears most of the day.

I can’t enjoy anything and find it hard to get motivated.

I have booked a Gp appointment for next week but I am normally a high energy upbeat person... I’ve been feeling like on and off for months

Talking to your GP sounds like a good first move. If you feel you can, put on some relaxing music, and Google self-help for depression. I have recently needed to do this, and was surprised to find loads of online resources to help. Just reading through it all was reassuring and helpful. Good luck, and I hope you feel brighter soon.

Yes, GP appointment sounds a good first step.
