Does this sound like a panic attack?

Had my Covid jab this morning, extensive dental work yesterday (have stitches in my mouth etc) . When I had my jab I hadn’t eaten more than an ice lolly in 24 hours, and was tired and am taking strong painkillers (dihydrocodeine) .

In car on way home I suddenly had a very odd feeling that I was going to pass out - I was laughing at something then very strange head rush, felt funny for about 20 seconds then back to normal .

I had two or three similar attacks last autumn and told they were probably panic attacks - was checked out by GP as they were associated with ectopic heartbeats . Also spoke to cardiology team who said satisfied it was anxiety .

I’m shattered now but frightened it could happen again . I’ve an appointment with GP next week so can talk to her but it was horrible feeling of impending doom . Does it sound like anxiety? Or low blood sugar ?

(I wasn’t driving the car, thankfully!)

The feeling of impending doom certainly sounds like my panic attacks! Dihydrocodeine is psychoactive (I occasionally take Paramol for period pains) so that plus not eating plus the dental work plus the jab could very well have caused one. Sometimes mine come out of nowhere, it’s such a horrible feeling and the worst bit in a way is the worry it’ll happen again.

There are coping strategies - breathing techniques etc. Go easy on yourself too, it sounds like you’ve had a stressful couple of days!

Codeine on an empty stomach makes you feel like this.

Thank you x

That does makes sense ! Have woke up totally unable to get up, so probably did too much - can sit up a bit but feel absolutely awful . Fever, dizzy, head pounding like stuck in a vice and shivering, and sore all over rather than just my face : guess I’m in bed for the day . Good time’s

Aw bless you OP, see I was just like you are now, after my AZ jab - felt rough for three days, hardly got out of bed for two. And I hadn't had dental work the day before the jab - in fact I felt amazing when I breezed into the clinic for the jab and was great for 12 hours after.

So, a jab when you're already wiped out from the dental work - when you have no fuel in your engine - yeah, could be a panic attack, low sugar, whatever. Main thing is you rest up now, lots of water, paracetamol etc. You should feel better tomorrow. Hope so. Flowers
