I’m the same. My tolerance is so low now it’s just not worth it for one glass of wine!

Hope you feel better soon

NewMatress · 25/05/2021 08:41

Yep. I used to be famous for my ability to down pints, although I didn't do it anywhere near as much as people believed I did. Im so out of practice, more than one and I will suffer next day now.

Branleuse · 25/05/2021 08:43

im like this too. No longer agrees with me

ConfusedAdultFemale · 25/05/2021 08:45

I’m the same with rose wine, I can’t touch it without getting very sick (not even 1 glass). Stick to red now.

ghostmouse · 25/05/2021 08:45

Yep the older i get the less tolerant 9f alcohol I get.

Makes for an annoying but much cheaper night 🤣

megletthesecond · 25/05/2021 08:45

This happened to me around 40 / peri-menopause. Even one glass made me ill. I have a tiny amount of wine once in a blue moon but that's my limit these days.

paralysedbyinertia · 25/05/2021 08:47

Interesting. I haven't had anything to drink for well over a year. No particular reason,, really - I rarely drank anyway, and I just stopped during lockdown. I have no idea if I could tolerate it now...

paralysedbyinertia · 25/05/2021 08:48

I'm perimenopausal as well, so that probably wouldn't help.

Heavymetaldetector · 25/05/2021 08:51

Same - teetotal as of Dec 19 simply because it makes me feel so awful. I'm only 32 and I used to be able to drink anyone under the table.

CrotchetyQuaver · 25/05/2021 08:55

Completely sympathise, we went to the pub last week. I had one pint of moretti, and was staggering and lurching about afterwards. It was pathetic! I got a fair bit of drunken gardening done in that state so not all bad...

MissKittyFantastico84 · 25/05/2021 08:59

I stopped drinking for health related reasons. If I have even one small drink now, say a glass of prosecco, I can just 'feel it' in my body. I just feel uncomfortable and the initial buzz wears off very quickly - I get almost an instant hangover and then I can't sleep!!! How did I use to drink all night???

My skin looks the best it has in years though, and I reckon I would have put on a lot more lockdown weight if I wasn't teetotal.

Coffee is my main vice now! Grin

I realised Id become totally intolerant to alcohol about 12 years despite drinking socially from being a teen. I was mid 30s
I’d stopped going out regularly after my Dd was born 18 years ago. So the gap between having a drink was getting longer. When I did have a rare night my god I paid for it.
Started with the most horrendous hangovers known to man.
Then I’d gone for a night out, hadn’t drunk that much. But the next day I was throwing up for about 12 hours. I couldn’t get out of bed and my stomach was in agony I felt like I’d been poisoned.

About 6 months later I’d gone to a friends barbecue. Again didn’t drink a huge amount, but got to about 11pm I was doubled up with cramp in my stomach then started throwing up. I was dizzy and lightheaded. Throughout the next day the nausea, cramp and dizziness stayed with me and again spent most of the day in bed.

I realised/decided then that I would never drink alcohol again.

Looking back I did use to get a really stuffy nose, flushed cheeks and would start sneezing more or less every time I drank alcohol. But didn’t realise that it was the histamines!

My mum also became intolerant to alcohol about 20+ years ago so would have been in her 40s

MrsDThomas · 25/05/2021 10:20

I have a glass of wine or a beer most nights. Just the one. 2-3 on a Saturday!

I dont go out to pubs as the pressure to drink but if had to go i like gin and im alternating with just tonic. So one is any wiser.

I never get drunk as i hate the feeling and couldn’t cope the next day

GloomyWaters · 25/05/2021 15:06

Im also peri-memo well not had a period since last August!!!

Hey maybe it's that!!!!

yup, if you don't use it you lose it!😉

I never was a big drinker anyway, but since I had kids and seldom drink I have been known to get dizzy after taking communion!🤣
